We arrived a bit early, but our table was ready in the front room by the window. Unlike many restaurants, the sitting between tables is spacious and not crowded. The overall atmosphere was elegant but understated (jacket and tie not required -- dress code is business casual and up. I was comfortable in slacks and collared shirt.). The service was attentive and professional. We had the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairing -- tuna tartar, seared scallops, duck, deer, & panna cotta (portions sizes were spot-on for 5-courses). In addition to the courses and wine, we were given other tasting samples throughout. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious, beautifully plated (but not over the top) and described by the waiter. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meal and we would absolutely return. Thanks for a superb evening.

Wilfrid's Restaurant offers diners a vibrant seasonal menu featuring local and regional ingredients. The culinary flavors are rich, the presentation is clean and the service is exceptional. A complete selection of wines is also available to compliment the
As we live in downtown Ottawa, we periodically return to this venue, hoping it will get better. The reason we return is because it is one of the only relatively quiet restaurants in the city. As we had a guest that we wished to talk to without shouting, we returned on May 30.We forget that the reason that it is quiet is that it is rarely busy. The reason that it is not busy is that the food is mediocre at best. Unfortunately, on this most recent visit, the food did not achieve even the mediocre level. We did not have wait long for disappointment. While I did not realize this because our guest did the tasting, our bottle of fairly expensive chardonnay was served pretty much room at temperature. Nothing was done to correct this situation. The first courses were a civiche and a soup. The civiche, while fresh, was severely over sauced, basically lying in an unattractive puddle. The soup was, except for its price, indistinguishable the Campbell's canned products. The worst event was the arrival of our mains. My wife and I both selected the Tomato Tart. The term tart normally refers to a lovely warm baked pastry with a sweet or savoury filling. This so-called tart was a 2 inch disk that was so hard it could not be easily cut with a knife. This tiny disk was stuffed with some kind of glop that was supposed involve eggplant. The inpenetrable disk was surrounded by a completely unattractive display of over-dressed greens. These had been drenched in an undistinguished dressing of some sort. Further, the item was pulled directly from the fridge and served at well below room temperature. While my wife nibbled at the greens, I sent to whole mess back.I guest was served a chunk of salmon that had been broiled to the cardboard level. Not being the complaining type, she managed to shoulder through it.At this point we left, unwilling to chance more bad food. This is an unfortunate situation. The Chateau has some of the beautiful dining venues in the city. Yet, based on our fairly extensive experience with the property, they have never had a competent kitchen. As the title says, they are mediocre at best.We sincerely regret your disappointing experiences in Wilfridâs. While I understand that you gave visited us in the past with equally disappointing reviews, I must share that your experiences are not typical of our usual high standards.Nevertheless, I will certainly review your comments in detail with our Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine for their comments. We do hope you give us another try one day as we are confident that you will be impressed with the improvements.Sincerely,Marion te WinkelDirector of Operations

Restaurant is simple, food tasty, dissatisfied with schnitzel very thin not a big portion of meat. After ordering couple of drinks, appetizer, main course with bottle of wine, desert and coffee we end up spending over $200 + tip...way to expensive for this type of dining.Service was good. Air conditioner wasn't working at all , was hot at one point, we mentioned to our server and few minutes later was fixed.

Everything written on TA about this place is spot on. There is no direct parking but for the shipping mall across the street. The entrance is unassuming inconspicuous and uninspiring. Once you get past this, you will be overwhelmed by the friendliness, the menu and the taste of the food. Authentic, tasty, spicy Piri Piri chicken, great fries, salad, fish dishes. And oh so reasonable in price. Go! You will not be disappointed. Obrigado. Thanks

Welcome to Aroma Small Plates and Wine. The first of its kind in Canada! Come and enjoy "Meze" the food that reflects the way of life in Greek culture. Meze...an eating style, ancient in origin, favored in Greece and the Mediterranean. It is where eating
The meze formula really worked for us, with a succession of small but beautifully cooked sharing dishes. What a good way to solve the all too common problem of 'super-size me' portions! It was very busy when I visited and service was a little slow, but very friendly and personal. We were impressed to be offered a complimentary extra dish when I ordered something my partner did not like.Although each dish is small, we found five dishes plus a desert was plenty enough for two.The absence of Musak was another plus. The only minor gripe I had was that the stark decor meant the restaurant room became rather noisy with conversation when it was full.

Le Baccara is by far one on my favorite restaurants, and I go back really often.Offering an awesome atmosphere with delightful service and food, this 5 diamond restaurant is fully up to the category it has achieved. It's a very good place to go solo, in couple, with friends, or even for business dinners. I would not recommend going with children.Great value for the money... I know a lot more costly restaurants that do not get even close to what Le Baccara offers.I personally love ordering the "Seven-course", which is a tasting menu that I can assure can delight even the most exquisite taste buds.Getting to the restaurant may be a little awkward and noisy because you have to go through the casino, but, once there, the elegant and quiet environment make it really a special place.
