Putāruru is a small town in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. It is on the Oraka River 65 kilometres south-east of Hamilton. The correct form of the name is thought to be the Māori word Putaaruru – "To come forth like a ruru (morepork)"; sometimes given as 'Home of the Owl'.

Highly over priced and low quality coffee. Food is also over priced. Service is average. It is clear they take advantage of the location to rip people off

I have stopped my journey here several times and have been happy especially with the lovely cheese and bacon scones.
This time it was the Tuesday after Easter and extremely busy and there seemed to be only three staff.
I ordered a cappuccino and a toasted Sandwich. After 50 minutes wait and seeing others go to the counter to complain I did too. My coffee had arrived just prior to this and was swamped with 5 bees that kept drinking the coffee and swimming in it!
I mentioned this and was given a shrug so I asked if they could put it in a takeaway container. I was brought a takeaway coffee which was obviously filled with the previous coffee when I expected a new one to be made. I gingerly drank it and continued my journey.
Will bee..be not so keen to to go there next time.

Came to the bake house with my daughters and niece. I had not been in a New Zealand bakery for 2 years having been living in Asia. The staff were friendly and accommodating given I took a lot of time ordering food for everyone. I bought a mince and cheese pie, a pepper steak pie, a custard slice, a ginger bread man, a caramel slice and a sausage, plus drinks. The food was fresh and tasty and there was a good selection of tasty snacks at an affordable price.

Four of us had toasted cheese and ham sandwiches with iced coffees here. This cafe is on the Main Street of Tirau and easy to spot with its corrugated iron poppies on the roof. Pleasant staff served us and it appeared popular with several other customers while we were there.

This is a clean, roomy cafe with friendly accommodating owners. The even have a meeting room should you need to getting together your team from the region. Books are an added bonus, but should you need a light snack and cuppa, the coffee is good and get them to split and toast a cheese scone for you for that added yumminess!

Come visit our fabulous restaurant known for its excellent service and outstanding food. No matter if you're a regular or passing through, we have something for you.
Having stayed in Putaruru for three nights this cafe seemed out of place. Don't get me wrong, Putaruru certainly has it's charm bit this cafe felt like one that belongs in Ponsonby Auckland.
Very trended, excellent layout and theme, amazing food, cheerful staff and great pricing! We met a couple of friends here for breakfast before hitting the road for home and honestly one of the best full cooked breakfast I've had from a cafe.

Called in for lunch just before 1pm. They weren't busy but the choices available were not plentiful. Not a lot of cabinet food to choose from and only one cold/salad which we opted for and it was very average. Disappointing given previous reviews of this café.

Our cafe is different from other cafes. Besides offering excellent food and coffee, it is our intent that you leave our cafe happier than when you came in. Our decor celebrates 'bugger moments' and encourages you to have a laugh at life. We believe life is too serious and if you laugh more everything is better. Our food is fresh, succulent, tasty and, wherever possible, local. So everything we sell will fit into these categories. We make everything on site. All are baristas are highly trained to deliver you the perfect brew.
The Bugger café was the most interesting and quirky café we have seen in a long time. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, the coffee well made and delicious food. The walls were adorned with pictures and quotations based on the theme from the tv ad "Bugger" and it was amazing how many interpretations there were. Also the sayings painted on the arches provided must amusement. A 'must' next time we are passing.

The staff were very friendly in this cafe and we got good service. Although the coffee was pretty average, we had the most brilliant peppermint slice. Very clean and to be recommended.
