Nice place a very good traditional basque cooking. If you what to try the traditional boned steak or "txuleta" this is the place.The restaurant can be a little difficult to find if not well directed.

Visiting friends near Bilbao and found this gem in a beautiful natural park. Clearly a local favorite and now one of mine!

Buried deep in a neighbourhood between Lezama and Bilbao, it took us a long time to find the Sidreria Elexalde. We arrived around 9pm and were surprised to see that we were the only ones there. That should have been a warning. The food was good, as was the cider. However, we were informed that if we didn't reach 28 euros per person, there would be an additional charge of 6 euros per person for the drinks. It was not good value and certainly did not merit travelling all the way.

Nos encantó la ubicación del restaurante, muy cerca de Bilbao pero tan lejos de algún modo. El entorno y el edificio son maravillosos.La atención fue muy buena, tanto del encargado como de las camareras. Muy simpáticas y atentas en todo momento.La comida estuvo buena, pero creo que Ãbamos con muchas espectativas asà que nos faltó un poco de sorpresa y, quizá, de cantidad.A destacar el foie a la brasa y el huevo con pimientos, platos donde realmente se notaba la brasa (aparte de la carne, evidentemente). La chuleta, corta para lo que esperábamos.Precio alto, aquà no hay duda.

Found Txakoli Simon online before I boarded the plane at Barcelona. Was supposed to check in first but decided to go straight to the place with our luggage and was the best decision ever.Warning: It's not possible to walk, its uphill, very secluded and easily accessible with car/taxi only. Did not see any buses around the area.... which is why we were thankful we went straight from Bilbao airport before heading down to the hotel as it was kind of "on the way".It's a self service place but I guess because we were so blur, the staff decided to serve us instead. We chose to sit outside to get the charcoal grill. Sitting inside is only the teppan style grill. I guess it's for safety purposes.We ordered the rubia beef, served rather raw and we cook according to our preference. They also served us bread - goodness gracious the bread is warm and so freshly baked! We were kind of the first or second so perhaps it was the first batch. We ordered a salad to share - portion is really huge. We loved our experience here, be it food or staffs, everything's perfect! Great place to try Galician beef for a very reasonable price. We paid 51 euros for two including wine so it's actually pretty good price!
