As a long-time resident of the area, I used to frequent Al Portego often...ownership changed, the name changed, and I didn't feel the same "vibes" that I did in the past...We've been talking about giving the restaurant "another chance", since ownership changed again--and the original name returned as well--and I'm glad that we did. We had an excellent meal recently, and will be back again! Enjoyed the fagottini alle pera--the nuts and bacon were a nice touch--and the items with truffles were outstanding--the tagliata with truffles and grana melted in my mouth. Service was efficient and friendly as well.

We made a reservation for this restaurant for dinner in April back in February. The reservation request was sent by email and we received a response from the restaurant the same day confirming the booking. We booked in advance as it was the Sunday evening prior to Easter and we have found in the past that Italian restaurants can be very busy on a Sunday night especially around Easter time. We also wanted to avoid having to traipse around town finding somewhere. We arrived at the restaurant five minutes early to find only one lady serving an almost full restaurant. We gave her our name and booking time and she looked at the reservations book. After a couple of minutes it became clear she could not find our booking. At this point we showed her the email confirmation. Clearly the restaurant had failed to make a note of our booking. Rather than offering any apology the waitress huffed at us, went across to the one remaining empty table for 4, pulled the 2 tables a few centimetres apart and pointed at us to sit down. She never spoke to us during this time. She huffed again and walked off. We sat there with no menus and no idea what was going on. We waited approximately 10 minutes to see if she would come back with menus and offer us anything to drink. This didnât happen. She was clearly already over worked and didnât want to serve us.We walked out after being ignored for 15 minutes and went across the road to another restaurant where we received prompt efficient service. We weren't the only people being ignored and others were looking around wondering what the delay was.We canât comment about the food but for customer service and operational management this restaurant was a total let down.

Style and elegance come to dinner, here. A refined restaurant where exquisite flavours are to be discovered. A perfect rendevouz for fish lovers along with renowned cuisine from venice, vicenza and bassano like asparagus radicchio, porcini mushrooms...Per
Wonderful discovery! Pretty far from the main Venetian cities, the restaurant is definitely worth the trip. The large presence of customers on a Monday evening demonstrates it.Davide, son of the owner, has been a very professional host and led us with the appropriate pace through what can reasonably be considered as a dream for a fish lover! We have gone through a long suite of wonderful sea dishes that have in common the freshness and the outstanding quality of their ingredients. Ranging from raw to fried fishes, we went through many variations including sarde in saur and a splendid spaghetti alla bottarga. The wine list is well made (++), with an outstanding selection of "natural" wines (+++), at reasonable prices (+++). You are offered three possibilities ranging from restaurant to Cafe (++) and the hotel that looks pretty nice if you prefer to stay overnight (+++). Service was gentle and smiling, attention to the host was splendid. Davideâs wine suggestions were perfect and we ended by a cacao feve tasting and an outstanding rum! A Brazilian cigar brought the final touch to a wonderful dinner we had the pleasure to share with wonderful persons.Looks at the photos, no words to add! Just book and rush.Quality wine producers are in my view the best source when it comes to restaurant. We had the pleasure to join the covibio producers at the end of their Verona's wine exhibition day. It made it easier to taste a large variety of plates.

For years, the Villa Tacchi has been the standard to which other restaurants in the area have been compared. I have attended events there in the past and was impressed with the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything. Recently, a friend who was retiring expressed a desire to go to Villa Tacchi's Tavernetta restaurant as a farewell; I made reservations for 8 people, anticipating a feast...sigh...The meal started off well with complimentary prosecco and seafood appetizer, but the quality of the "feast" that followed was very uneven..some of the party enthusiastically enjoyed their two courses, but the other half of the group complained that the meat was tough, or there wasn't much flavor in the dishes that they had ordered. All in all, the dinner was a disappointment rather than a celebration. No matter what was ordered, the meal should have been the highlight of years of living and eating in the Vicenza area. I won't be back.

Da Angelo's is one of my favorite restaurants in Vicenza, their pizza is the best that I've had outside of Naples. The family that owns Da Angelo is from Amalfi and their menu and daily specials feature dishes and ingredients originating from that region (fish, mozzarella di bufala, etc.). In addition to traditional Italian trattoria fare (pasta, pizza, meat/seafood) they also have numerous hearty meal-size salads on the menu (insalatone). The house wine is local, cheap and delicious. The ambiance is a typical Italian trattoria and the service is always friendly, prompt and attentive. Also notable, they serve pizza at lunch which is not very common in Italy. They are closed Tuesdays.

This is absolutely the best seafood restaurant in Vicenza. While small (be sure to make reservations in advance) and a little difficult to find, the food was fantastic (especially the spaghetti vongole) and the service was top notch. Parking can be a bit of a problem, but recommend parking in the gas station to the right of the restaurant any time after 6:00 pm. Great food and would recommend to anyone looking for the best in seafood.

Loved everything about this place, from the happy smiley staff to the unique way they bring the fresh fish out to show you. I settled for spaghetti bolognaise. It was divine. The best dish I had all holiday. Piping hot, lots of it and wow that taste. Mama Mia indeed. Thanks for to visit in my restaurant.Angelo

Ristorante Da Remo has always been a class act. Owner and Master Chef Mario Barrato is a living legend not only in Veneto but throughout Italy he is known for his masterful culinary expertise. The restaurant is situated in a centuries old monastery full of charm and elegance much like the delicious food offerings on it's ever evolving menu. As a certified chef myself I can honestly say that only a fool would miss the opportunity to dine here whilst in Vicenza! Their creations showcase the finest elements of the seasons blended like sorcery and magical on the palate! This place never disappoints! It is not cheap... but neither is the food cheapened!

Been to many sushi restaurants worldwide and this is definitely a top tier sushi restaurant. The quality of the food, the presentation, service and ambiance was great. This place is only a couple weeks old, so hopefully they can keep it up. It is more expensive than other local sushi places but you pay for what you get.Thank you very much, Craig! We hoop to see you soon!Best regards.

The place is fantastic. Just attached to the Basilica Palladian, a stunning monument that releases a majestic atmosphere of the Vicenza important past. But the contrast with the very poor service of the restaurant destroyed the good sensations. I was there with international business guests and it was very hard to sustain the reliability and quality of our company service after choosing such a disorganized and not friendly place.Food was below average as well. The pizzas were not cooked enough, probably because they messed up their backing oven organization...
