Things to do in Malcesine

Very disappointed with this place. It was my husbandâs birthday so we stopped off for some lunch. Service started well and order was quickly taken by a pleasant waitress. My husband ordered carbonara which arrived within 5 minutes. I ordered salmon and potatoes which didnât arrive. We had to ask 3 times where my meal was which arrived after 20 minutes and my husbandâs meal was well gone. So much for a romantic lunch! This was made worse as the potatoes were cold! When we questioned whether there could be any discount the owner was very rude and said âyou on holiday - what is 5 minutes.?â When we offered to settle the bill less â¬5 he threatened to call the police. Rubbish food and very arrogant service. I would advise avoid at all cost and only gave 1 star as any less is not possible!!!

Been coming to Malcesine the past 6-7 years, know the dining scene well, which for the most part revolves around very simple, undemanding fare. Fair enough; you come here for the spectacular scenery, not the food. So what a nice surprise this summer to find the arrival of âLa Corte del Paiâ, which is a couple of notches above the mainstream and a true ristorante. The setting in the romantic, historic courtyard is inviting enough â and the food! Canât believe how moderate the prices are for the quality and for the many creative touches and mixtures of ingredients. Sure, youâll pay more than you do at the many pizza places â but not much more. Went two nights last week; everything was perfect, both appetizers and mains, service too. And totally unpretentious; itâs all about the food. But I guess I shouldnât be surprised at the result since the friendly, dedicated proprietress, Rebecca, had already found succeess in her simple but wonderful Malcesine trattoria âDa Nonna Pinaâ, which weâve been frequenting since its opening 4-5 years ago and which itself was a needed boost in quality in the Malcesine food scene when it opened. Nice to have both options now. Brava, Rebecca, for this new little haven!

They don't have any inside seating but have an area covered and plastic sheets for walls and some space heaters. It was not uncomfortable even though outside was cold. Their food is good and their vegetable soup very warming on a cold lunch time. Been there before and was glad to go back

This was our first visit to the beautiful town of Malcesine on Lake Garda, so we looked up restaurants on Tripadvisor and the reviews for Vidoc stood out.It was difficult to find out why.Friendly knowledgeable staff made choosing our courses very easy, then when the food arrived it surpassed our expectations. First we had one of the delicious sharing platters with a carafe of Prosecco, followed by one of the nicest steaks weâve ever had anywhere. It was the size of a T bone and only cost â¬20.When I saw ice cream with balsamic vinegar on the dessert menu, I just had to try it and it was a true delight. One of the other surprises which delighted me was the fact that they sell Amarone by the glass! If youâre visiting Malcesine then a visit to Vidoc is a must if you enjoy and appreciate the fact that their produce is sourced locally and cooked with love.Thank you, we will return.
