On our day trip from Salamanca to Medina del Campo we parked in the first easy space we found. As luck would have it we were opposite Mejillonera and we went in for a coffee and pastries. For 4 people very reasonable at less than â¬8, but the menu of tapas and racionnes caught my my eye - I love polpo gallega. The fresh trays of food we saw coming from the kitchen to the bar sealed the deal. We returned for lunch after a couple of hours sightseeing. I had my polpo (octopus) which was warmed with olive oil and paprika, so tender and delicious. We also had four more dishes including tuna steak with salsa and olives, and patatas bravas, with plenty of bread rolls. All very good. With two red wines and two cokes it was great value at just under â¬20. Busy at about 12:30 with locals, but service was quick and friendly - no English spoken but with some pointing and our few words of Spanish we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal!Muchas gracias y hasta siempre!!Buen viaje

We found this place by accident, looking for quick lunch on the road. We didn´t have time to wait for a pizza, but we ordered baguette sandwiches and a side of fries. Bread and veg were utterly fresh, sandwiches carefully made and artfully presented, and the fries were just perfect. The restaurant is very clean, the people who work there are friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable.

Excelente chuletón de Lugo a la piedra. Sitio muy agradable y excelente atención. Entras al bar y crees que te has equivocado. Pero tienen un comedor que está muy bien.

We had dinner at Alegria after walking around the square and looking at various menus of different restaurants. I had read the reviews of Alegria and it lived up to the comments and then some. There is a tapas bar in front and restaurant space in back. The service was excellent, helpful, and friendly. Having some Spanish is very helpful. The portions are generous, so be careful how much food you order.We ended up having 2 first courses and sharing one second course and a bottle of wine, this was plenty of food for two people.The Bacalao was excellent, traditional and well prepared. The grilled vegetables were not fancy, but fresh and grilled nicely on the plancha. My wife really liked the steamed artichokes hearts in broth with pieces of ham, I'm not a huge artichoke fan, but this was tasty.The fun part of the evening, it was the night of the final of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish soccer (futbol) championship between Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid. They have a TV in the dining room and we were able to watch the game and enjoy the enthusiasm of the locals. It was not too loud and we could still enjoy quiet conversation between us.The server was wonderful, super helpful, and wanted to make sure we were happy and enjoyed our meal. There is pride of ownership and desire to serve.It is clear this is a part of Spain feeling the effects of the economy and these people were happy we were there to enjoy a meal at their restaurant.

Es un sitio ideal para esa parada/comida rápida en el camino. El servicio es muy amable, atento y veloz. Cosa muy de agradecer en estos casos. La oferta es variada y con buenas intenciones. Muy popular entre los lugareños. Hacen su propio vino. Dispone de una terraza, y una gran barra. Recomendable.

If you want to taste the best "tapas" in Medina del Campo you should go to this place. It has been renovated a few years ago and now it's a beautiful place for eating and drinking with a beautiful terrace. You can eat croquettes, fried prawns in batter, as in picture, stuffed eggs and a lot of yummy things. I love this place and every time that I go to Medina del Campo I have to go to Bar Casino

We were on the trip from Madrid to Galicia and decided to stop at this town for a fast lunch break. We found this place by internet and no regret!! Service is great and the food is amazing... Love it!!

Reading the comments, it seems so. Understandable since this nice local restaurant is tucked away in the square's corner. We chose the menu of the day. Awaiting our plates, locals entered steadily. Always a good sign. Service is excellent and nice. Real napkins, nice tablecloth. The food is great. Nothing extremely special but very honest and tasty. Nice portion prepared with love.A very good place to spent the hotest hours of the day. Please do come and have a real Spanish diner.Thank you so much!! We are pleased to know that you have taken a good impression of Spanish food. Come back whenever you want!

And will still come another million. Family owned business with excellent quality of food and better customer service.This place is great for any occasion you could think of. Traditional Spanish food, with no complications! Extremely cheap for the amount of food and the quality that you receive.

We walked into this place not expecting much, but had a great Menu del Dia. Our waiter was very patient with us when we had difficulty translating some of the menu items. They offer free olives and croquetas as an appetizer. I started with the cream of vegatable soup which was my favorite of the trip. I then had a thin steak and fries that were very tasty and had flan for dessert. We had a group of three and were given a whole bottle of vino tino :-)
