Popped in quite early at about 17:00 hr as I needed to have an early dinner and although they had just started up the oven I could get my vegetable pizza within 10 minutes! Great pizza indeed and great service! In short: highly recommended!

I have been eating at this restaurant first time in 1989 and I am returning here at least once a month no matter the restaurant is 100 km distanced from my residence.I must say that this is the best restaurant at Slovenian "coast" eventhough you need 10 minutes of driving to the seaside. Easiest way to reach the restaurant is via Highway Ljubljana - Koper, exit Crni Kal and following the signs for Osp. Well known climbing site is just one km from the restaurant which is located 500m from Italian border and is easy reachable also from 10 minutes distanced Port of Trieste. Traditional building was renovated 12 years ago and it really is very quiet and lovely with it's open fire place inside. This is mostly fish restaurant with their specialty - pasta with truffels. I have tried this dish in many places worldwide, but their way of preparation is uniqe and must try. They will offer you also a prosciutto or a steak for guests, who do not like fish, but stay focused on sea specialities.Home made patte from white fish, octopus salad, grancevolla shell fish, uniqe cold starters with mozzarela, everything carefully prepared by chef Majda, tiny lady with golden hands. Wide variety of wild fish from the oven with potato and cherry tomato or grilled, calamari fried (not smelly, but exquisit - the only place in Slovenia, where I am eating them), salads from Majda's garden, all food is ALLWAYS FRESH! Eventhoug I am not a desert lover, I allways have some here - my favourite is Majda's semifreddo di cafe, but you will not miss, if you take anything else, what boss Davorin will recommend.I have red one of the reviews, telling about slow service. Keep in mind, that if ou are in a hurry, go and have some burger elsewhere. The ambient will give you an impression that you are somewhere in Sicilian suburbs and the do not rush, don't they?!Wines (especially Malvazija as a house wine) and a bottle of Le Roi - red, very affordable will not dissapoint you. Try Majda's grappa - brinjevec at the end and if it will be too much for driving, they can offer you a lovely room over the night.

I'm abstemious and penurious with the "circles" I give out in reviews. Unfortunately, a 3-circle review on Trip Advisor brings the average down; 5-circle reviews occur too frequently and result in "grade inflation." This is a very, very good 3-circle restaurant that I rate 4-circles here because of the way people use the system. The meats (veal and steak) are very good and the restaurant goes out of its way to note that the viands come from famed provisioner Dario Cecchini way down in Tuscany! A diner should feel good about a restaurant that goes out if its way to procure quality products. The service was prompt and attentive. The ambiance is not luxurious but quite comfortable. The restaurant is about a 10 - 11 ⬠cab ride from center city.

Fish dishes , appetizers , first, second only on order also meat dishes
We took a mid morning ferry from Trieste to Muggia on a beautiful Sunday morning and were charmed by the relaxed atmosphere of the town. We considered several places for lunch but so luckily picked this wonderful restaurant. The husband and wife team work smoothly to deliver the finest food experience. The mixed seafood antipasto was superb - such choice and flavours. The stuffed ravioli and prawns were sublime in flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the welcome extended to us. My Italian is poor but I hope enough to communicate our appreciation. So sad time did not permit a return visit

We found the Antica Trattoria Suban via TripAdvisor and what a find this was! They offer about 15 dishes but they are all immaculately made and perfectly representative of the local cuisine. Prices are more than OK for what is on offer (expect to pay about 15 Euro for a second course, 6 Euro for desert, a bottle of great wine is about 20). Food is magnificent, well prepared and well balanced. And the deserts are to die for...try the ice cream! Service was absolutely great, very knowledgeable and courteous, with complimentary dishes from the house. The restaurant itself is a bit outside the city centre but you can easily find free parking spaces outside. Reserve in advance - the place tends to get full! Respect for what the founder of this restaurant has done! A very highly recommended establishment!

A warm welcome was given as soon as we entered the restaurant, and a chair for the toddler in the group was provided immediately-The dishes were mainly fish dishes but all were cooked to perfection.I had a mussels soup which was very tasty.Whilst others enjoyed tagliolini con gamberetti and tartuffo. However there were mainly fish dishes. The panna cotta with fresh fruit was delicious and as stated the meal ,wine and friendly service were the end of a perfect day.

I strongly recommend this restaurant for a fast and quality dinner near the synchrotron. The employees were very nice and the food typical from italy and slovenia.

This is a family run restaurant with excellent cuisine. The host is most gracious and the food is delicious and well presented. The wine selection is excellent especially the organic wines. The terrace is a perfect setting for balmy summer nights. We visited in June and were very pleased we did. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit for the sake of the unique atmosphere and the great food. The place is small and it is advisable to call for reservation. The owner greets every guest in person and makes you feel truly welcome. Without doubt, it was one of our best dining experiences in Slovenia!
