I've been to Teruel several times and had never seen this restaurant before but I'm glad I found it this time. I went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to be offered the 'menu del dia' which is only offered at lunchtime in most restaurants. The food was tasty and well presented and the price was very good. Having read a few negative comments on here I would also like to add that the service was very good. The entire team of El Mercao thanks you for your opinion and pleasure. Which motivates un to continue improving.

Almost perfect proper restaurant just off the main square of Teruel. Attentive and knowledgable staff. Wonderful cheese platter and very good Cod and Turbut main courses nicely cooked and well presented. Would definitely go again. Thanks you so much

Fabulous âmontaditos are served in this bar ( on the ground floor). Upstairs you can have a sit down meal (informal dining) choosing from a wide variety of tapas. We had vegetables in tempura, scampis and excellent âmigasâ ( a typical dish). Friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended.

Perfect spot to grab some pinchos and cañas for lunch. Creative and of high quality (manitas con foie is highly recommended!), and staff is friendly.

We found this place while wandering trying to find our hostal or wifi. They had Wi-Fi so we went in and had a couple of beers. The prices were good, the bartender gave us a bowl of honey roasted nuts with each round which was nice. It was a cozy, friendly atmosphere and basic decor. Did not try the food but we were tempted by the self-proclaimed giant burgers. It has a few terrace tables outside. Overall a good place for a quick beer

I am sad I can not access my photos of this incredible dining experience to share. When my husband is home and able to help me I will try to upload later. As I think the photos will entice you more than my glowing review. My husband was here on business. We luckily got in for a lunch, as while I was out exploring I found this place and wanted to try it. We never were able to do dinner as I think they opened at 9 pm.As Americans we are used to eating earlier for dinner or we would have tried to make it happen. The whole experience was FIRST class. The Wine Sommelier we actually saw in a article in magazine at our hotel room (Grand Botanical's). Within a bit of walking distance. EVERYTHING was delicious. Presented wonderfully. We had a Bottle of wine recommended which went well with everything we ate. Very busy, for the small dining areas. Everyone appeared to be enjoying the items they ordered. We went with a fixed price menu which gave several options. Nothing was disappointing. Very reasonable for the prices, esp. For the service which was given. I should have written this review sooner. As it was one of the Highlights of our stay in Teruel. I kept meaning too but I kept putting it off. But as much as we both enjoyed it I should have done the review ASAP. I really hope we get to return to experience this again !Highly Recommend if your able to experience it.

Dear clients, the Restaurant will be closed for holidays from January 12, 2017 until February 9, 2017. Sorry for the inconvenience!
I have no higher praise to give than I do to this restaurant. It has truly great local aragonese cuisine (with certain Argentinian twists) - many cooked on an open fire in the centre of the restaurant - and impeccable, friendly service. The owner/proprietor mingles with guests and helps select the perfect dishes and wines. No trip to Teruel is complete without a trip to this restaurant.

The chef is a true chef there, I was amazed by what I was getting served, and ended up ordering twice more than I needed, and did not feel guilty about it. The ingredients (local, hence the name) are top quality but really it is the chef's creations with those ingredients that stand out, with flavors and textures, presentation. All at an incredible price, never had a gastronomy experience like this one before, highly memorable.
