Looked nice and I excitedly ordered the tasting menu. The sweet waitress took the order without demur. After consulting amongst themselves, the rather sinister looking male waiters said the tasting menu was for a minimum of two but that I could recreate it for double the price! Maybe they didnât like a 26e steal deal going to a foreigner (albeit bilingual). I asked them to reconsider but they wouldnât. I said I was unhappy and got up to leave. They tried to charge me for the water which I hadnât touched. They didnât try to persuade me not to go. So one of their 2 English language reviews this year will be damning. And beautiful Ascoli Piceno which is desperately short of quality foreign tourists. Well done guys, this is called winning the game of life -not ! In bocca al lupo.

No frills here but good local dishes on a limited menu. Fritto Misto to share were a filling starter, coated in semolina for extra crunch. The olive ascolane were particularly meaty. Three types of pasta, stuffed or dressed in distinctive sauces (ragu, cheesy and tomato) plus an ultra fresh green salad, just left room for a dolce for me. My partner managed a Secondo of Vitello, which turned out to be bit chewy. Semifreddo with almonds rounded things off nicely, a better choice than the millefoix with very sweet creme anglais.A couple of beers, a half carafe of house wine and a glass of local white kept topped up the liquids, as did the free grappa.The bill came to 66E.

I read about this on Trip Advisor, and thought I'd try it but it was mid week and I know it's almost always impossible to find anywhere with more than a couple of diners mid week.This was no exception, we were one of only two tables....BUT I am so glad we tried it!The owner / front of house guy (who's visiting London soon!) was brilliant, tried really hard to speak to us in English and we were practising our Italian. So, we weren't quite sure what we'd ordered but here's what we got:A bean soup, that was delicious, hot and very filling! Had I known how big it was I wouldn't have then ordered:Chitarra - thin spaghetti with ragu - really delicious, only a very small amount of meat, very traditional and again a hearty portion that was really filling.We thought we ordered grilled veg, but got a plate of seasonal veg, kind of a ratatouille, fava beans, spinach....now we're really full!Next time we'll order a soup and main...something traditional. can't wait to go again.It's traditional in it's design, yes it has the obligatory TV that almost all Italian restaurants have but there are places to sit that mean you can avoid it.The service as I said was exceptional, and the house wine was pretty good too. We had 1/2 litre.All of this for around 24 Euros for 2.For a good old traditional informal meal, at good value I think it's great.

This is a superb restaurant in the middle of the wine country of the province of Teramo, in the town of Torano Nuovo....It is quietly elegant inside and also has a few inviting tables outside.The food is excellent (many of the ingredients are grown and/or made by the chef and family) and the prices are quite reasonable.The owner and his family are charming and very helpful. We will return!!!
