We were here following a recommendation by locals. not greeted but seated outside, we were asked what we wanted to drink, brought water and spicy oil. 15 minutes of no further interaction later (BTW I am italian, it wasn't a language barrier), we're brought a plate of 15 arrosticini for the 4 of us. mind you, we had a vegan at the table who would have liked to order something else, of course. I proceed to ask inside for options, and it turns out the option is bread. no veggies of any kind, no potatoes, just cheese, cold cuts, and arrosticini. ok, NO PROBLEM, we treated it as an antipasto and decided we'd have dinner somewhere else. once the plate was finished, I went inside to pay, only to realize we'd been billed for a second serving of 15 arrosticini we didn't ask for, and didn't want, and weren't going to eat. again, because I speak the language, we persuaded them to take the food back, and the money off the bill, which did take some arguing as we "had not said we didn't want any more.." first: who should I have told, as the waitresses were nowhere to be seen!?!? secondly, how should I have known to NOT order something at a restaurant!? arrosticini good but not outstanding (yes, I am from the region, I know my arrosticini..) service appalling. a resounding nope.

Traveling along the road on our way to Tivoli, we were happy to see this restaurant on the way. We were quite hungry and tired after a long day of driving, but the restaurant was closed. We were told that it would open in 15 mins. So we waited and had a cup of coffee. When the restaurant opened, the service was very slow and the menu was poorly translated into English (google translate might have been used literally) and did not have a lot of choices. We had to leave, still very hungry.

Five of us were in Castelli to buy some ceramics, which I highly raccomend. The store owner pointed us towards this restaurant with the advice that we would be blown out of the water. Blown away we were. Absolutely the best food we had on this trip to Italy and very close to the best ever. I am not kidding we go to Italy every year. We ordered appetizers and a pasta dish each. The apps just kept coming and truly could not pick one as the best. I do have to mention that the fresh ricotta was to die for. Pasta dishes were fresh, made with care and all with local products. Even the wine was made by them. Seriously you got to try this place. On our next trip we will return to Castelli and Iolanda even if we do not have buy ceramics. Onemore thing, our host was absolutely charming even offered to show us their own ceraminc store inside the restaurant.

Without any doubts one the best restaurant to feel the "abruzzese" way of eating near Teramo. Pappardelle, Ravioli, Rabbit cacciatora and grilled lamb. Really amazing. Really affordable. 100% Italian!

For 25E! Every course was fabulous. Locally-grown truffles... and yes, we were served the region's famous "Strangozzi al tartufo" (strangled pasta with truffles: thick heavy fresh pasta with generous local truffles). The never-ending 10+ course antipasto included various crepes filled with prosciutto or zucchini, puffed triangular cheese-breads, lots of hand-made warm delights, not your standard cold sliced meats and cheeses. Choices for seconds favor meats not fish, as this is up in the mountains. Reservations required for the day's main meal, Pranzo, starting around noon lasting til 3 or 4pm. We went after mass at Basilica San Gabriele. Worth the crazy trip up the mountain road. I've included the map as my photo. It is about 50 yards off of the road on the right, over a little ridge as the road bends to the left, and not well seen from the road, so pay attention.

We visited this small restaurant on recommendation from our hotel. The location is placed beautifully up the hills on a small and curvy road just as you would (not?) expect it! The menu was simply listed to us by the owner, and included only locally produced food and handmade pasta. We trusted the owners selection of entree and we were not disappointed! All the food we received were fantastic, including the wine, the meat the pasta (try pasta with sausage and truffle!!) and the desert! The fact that the owner does not speak too much English will not be a problem as they are super kind and really friendly people and they will guaranteed serve you a fantastic meal you late will forget!! Absolutely recommended to visit this restaurant if you are nearby!

Grazie Alessia,We have eaten many times at this wonderful restaurant, the warm welcome from Alessia who is so proud to tell us what food has been freshly cooked by her mother and sister, wonderful pasta, ravioli, gnocchi in tasty sauces, fresh vegetables (which you don't get in many places, it is usually salad), lamb etc and delicious desserts or a plate of cheeses pecorino etc with a fig relish, served with good quality wine.If you would like something particular you can go in the day before and order it for the next day.Only open at lunch times.Once again thank you for looking after us and we look forward to returning soon.
