Every year for the past three years we have spent our holiday near L'Ametlla and eaten out a lot. Last week we treated ourselves to dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Cambrils which was lovely but Balco de L'Estany wins hands down. The location is stunning on a headland overlooking the sea and is wonderfully secluded - you feel like you've stumbled upon the region's best kept secret. The food was sublime. We had mussels and the local dish, fideua, both cooked to perfection with minimal fuss. The proprietor was very warm and welcoming too. The highlight of our holiday this year.

The kids loved the space to run around .and we loved the sun terrace without the usual worries about them.. Multilingual staff,(english run) good service and food especially fresh fish and rice/noodle dishes great pizzas and burgers Perfect place to relax away from the beach crowds in high summer. loads of parking!Good place,good people,good food.

What can one say, the food is ok, although the value for money is not as good as it used to be. We always had the grilled fish platter but at 25⬠per person itâs nowhere near as good value. The Paella seems good but I didnât taste it, just watched other clients enjoying theirs.The service is a bit chaotic, if your lucky enough to have a friendly waitress, brilliant.If not, at best itâs indifferent or at worst unfriendly!Having said all this it still seems very popular!
