Reviews on Sicilian food in Syracuse, Province of Syracuse, Italy. Once one of ancient Greece’s most important cities, today Syracuse (Siracusa in Italian) is a lively town of about 125,000 on Sicily’s southeast coast. The city overflows with amazing remnants from its long history. Romans, Vandals and Normans are but a few of those who ruled here after the Greeks. In Syracuse’s harbor, Ortygia Island (also called Città Vecchia or Old City) is the site of many of the main attractions, including the seventh-century cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa.

Time out is not a destination restaurant but what it is, is a good local restaurant serving perfectly cooked traditional Sicilian home cooking at really good prices. It is only a ten minute walk from the Ortigia bridge and is not a tourist trap. It is pleasant and cool on a small dead end street. The staff are friendly and you can eat here at any time. My wife had the classic Sicilian mussel soup and as meat is not big in most restaurants in Siracusa I had the most wonderful meatballs. If it`s too hot for a big meal just pop in here and have something light, fresh and perfectly cooked.

sicilian restaurant based on typical dishes of Messina specially meat and fish skewers and many olther different sicilian dishes
I had read lots of complimentary reviews on this site and decided to give it a try. But I was really let down by this place. It is not enough to say that the quality of food didn't live up to my expectations. I was shocked how primitive and not tasty at all it was. The portions were tiny and pretty much reminded fast food as no matter that we took different braciolette; one of pork and one of sword fish, they both had a taste of bred. The salad was made of lettuce and a few slices of unripe tomatoes. Thatâs it. No comments.A glass of white wine was more like a hardly covered bottom of a glass. I do not drink much, and when I order a glass of wine in a restaurant thatâs usually enough, thatâs exactly my dose, but not in this restaurant. That portion was obviously too small even for such a little drinker as I am.well sorry you had a bad experience with us not all the tastes are the same about the wine we make same portion for everybody that is the same of all other places by the way happy not everybody thinks like you:) enjoy your vacation in sicily

MOON's kitchen is made for curious and careful palates. Ours is a social kitchen where guests can, at any time, ask how the dish they enjoyed was made so that it can be recreated at home. Our menu offers new surprises every day; we respect nature and that
We are not vegan; however, the atmosphere was so good with piano player we decided to give it a try. Service was excellent and food was to. My wife had a tempura vegetable appetizer it was excellent. I had a nice salad with almonds and lasagna both were good. Service was best we had in Sicily and we were there for three weeks.

Three of us called in several times during our stay in Ortigia. We had breakfast and lunch at various times - the food and drink was excellent (see pics) and backed up by really friendly service from the 3 ladies!Definitely well worth going a little off the beaten track to find them - highly recommended!!

Not sure what the fuss is about...Large, airy place in an alley leading to Dianaâs Fountain. Bare wooden tables rather close together and friendly service. Tasteless salad (â¬13) with average ingredients and pasta (â¬13) with a much too salty tomato sauce (making it almost inedible except we diluted it with all the fresh tomatoes from the salad) and a few raw shrimp. But the crispy bread was a thin pizza base either baked in a wood oven or grilled over charcoal and it was fantastic, especially in comparison to the rest.Best to stick to the pizza that we saw at most of the other tables, which looked really good.

Frido is a place that escapes conventional labels, where the needs of a fast meal meet a slow restorative mode. Fried and raw, two tasty faces of the same gastronomic coin for a quick break without having to give up quality and research.

In the middle of ortigia you can find evoè wine shop and tasting.the location is made off an aware renovation between old and new, where the wood, the stone and iron coexist giving the birth to a sophisticated place, but,at same time casual where you can buy
Three of us called in on a rainy evening. They recommended an excellent bottle of red which was also reasonably priced. We had the meat and cheese platter which was enormous and really tasty. We also found room for 3 excellent deserts which they matched perfectly with 3 different desert wines. All in all a lovely evening - we highly recommended Evoe!

Typical Sicilian food, fish, meat, vegetarian and pizza.
Wonderful alfresco dining in a clean atmospheric alley with view of the sea. Lovely delicious food of seafood pasta. Staff were soooo nice and attentive. We went back twice for meals. If you are dining during the popular hours and want to dine outside you might want to make reservations.

We were here as couple if days ago. The restaurant was full with people, w mix between locals and tourists. Even though it was full, the food and service was very good. The casatella Siciliana was very good too!! We had a really good time here. Before we left, the head waiter offered us a generous shot of Limoncello.Recommended
