This is an amazing place ! Check my other tests in the valley but this is the true historic place with outstanding friendliness and service. Thanks a lot for a stunning evening !The owner welcomed us when we reserved the table in the afternoon introducing his house and the kitchen. Returning for dinner we were guided to his favorite ( family ) table and offered the daily specials. We - of course - trusted this warm 70somewhat host and were really happy with his recommendation. Not only his own wine simply put on the table but said from the garden, fruits from the garden and other ingredients from the neighbors. He joined us to tel the story of this 16th century location etc. etc. you can't describe all but this is the place. We will return. Guaranteed. Soon. My excitement is true representation of honest service and being welcome as a guest for a realistic price. You see my typical review being much more critical. Btw. - this is local home kitchen, not star decorated or even trying to. But well prepared, delicious and fresh.

This restaurant is a good lunch/dining option for people visiting St. John cloister (Unesco site) or just having a stroll in Mustair. It is in close proximity to the cloister and to the bus line connecting Italy and Switzerland. Outdoor terrace available, and reasonable selection of cold/warm dishes. Good food (try the local food!) and average price, for being Switzerland. Clean restrooms and nicely decorated interior. Service friendly enough (but not all of them speak English).

The restaurant is attractive inside, with amazing furniture (including a table that seats 12, with a stone oval in the centre and a wooden edge decorated with wooden insets) and decorations. The smells from the kitchen add to the welcome atmosphere. There is a Duplo table in the next room, as well as another box of Duplo in the covered outdoor dining area. The menu also caters for children, with several standard options (eg, spaghetti, nuggets, small schnitzel). There is a range of schnitzels available, all prepared freshly in their kitchen (we heard the meat being tenderised from our table), including schnitzel "Balcun At" which I highly recommend - pork schnitzel filled with smoked ham, onion, cheese and a touch of mustard. The price was also good! Will definitely be going back.
