We ate in a huge room without windows (the main restaurant was occupied with a wedding). The place was unbelievable noisy. The primo piatto arrived 5 minutes after we ordered, the main course before we finished the primo piatto. After 30 minutes dinner was finished. The food though was good. Go there if you want a quick dinner but for a relaxing evening.

Suggested by the hotel, I went and tried the Vecchia Carbonera for dinner. Had some delicious local plates, all at very good prices (especially if you compare to other northern italian cities). Enjoyed everything I ate, and they even kindly saved me from the storm afterwards. Went back for lunch the following day, and again ate very well. Look forward to heading back when next in town.

Pizzeria con prodotti ad alta digeribilità a pranzo e cena, ristorante a buffet solo a pranzo. Vasta scelta di birre artigianali.
Good quality pizza with nice ingredients wich are the most important for good food. Quite nice location and smart self service. Ask the owner (waiter and cashier) how to do. The bemol was the very noisy group of young people that make the hall so noisy that any talk was impossible. Average Italian value for money. Nice beers

Don't let the owner comment on the title put you off. The service is very nice, the food is for gods and the desserts are oh-my-lord good. At the time of paying you'll have to face the woman at the cashier, but that's it.The ice across the street is just as good as the tiramissu at Vesuvio, so... your choice!

Il passatore is one of the few restaurants in Sondrio which we found open in the evening. I had dinner with someone who is allergic to gluten. This wasn't a problem - we were just told we'd wait for some time because they had to change the water used for boiling. This meant that:1- they knew what an allergy is and what to do, even to avoid cross-contamination - professional.2- they were ready to run the "extra mile" for this - customer-oriented.3- they did it without fuss - gentle.Believe me: none of these three can be taken for granted. We had an excellent risotto with cheese, and I also had a delicious home-made chocolate dessert. The menu is quite short, but I found dishes for all tastes - and there is pizza too!Service was courteous, polite and with a smile. The person who was with me felt at ease, despite the allergy - again, something which, alas, doesn't happen all too often. The ambiance wasn't anything special - but the food was!So, yes, I can really recommend this restaurant!
