Reviews on Mediterranean food in Siena, Province of Siena, Italy. This Tuscan hill town will transport you back to the Middle Ages. Siena's grand cathedral, built in the 1200s, has treasured artworks and marvelous marble floors. The Piazza del Campo, the main town square, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's also home to the Palio, perhaps the most infamous horserace in the world. No goofy hats and mint juleps here—this is a medieval tradition involving bareback riders racing on cobblestones (so as you might imagine, it's quite dangerous). Siena is an easy daytrip by train from Florence, just 43 miles away.

Il ristorante Antica Osteria Da Divo rimarrà chiuso per ferie dal 15/02/19 al 28/02/19. Riaprimero il 1/03/19.
Itâs amazing that I remember a restaurant experience from nearly 7 years ago. My memory isnât that good but art and food help⦠I had a short time in Siena for a lunch but had an amazing meal in a restaurant that was built within an Etruscan cave/tomb. I remember the restaurant for the amazing scent of truffles and a piece of art that I love. Iâm glad I was able to rediscover the restaurant during this visit. The art was still there as was the scent of the truffles. Dinner was memorable as the gnocchi with white truffles and the Chianti Riserva were wonderful. What made the dinner even more unforgettable were two obnoxious American couples that were seated adjacent. They ordered one risotto to be shared 3 ways, one salad to be shared two ways, one rack of lamb to be split 3 ways. They asked for 3 baskets of bread, enjoyed the free prosecco but ordered nothing else. As expected the waitress didnât understand their splits and ended up needing to send items back to the kitchen. One of the women commented that âhigh-end restaurants donât make these kind of mistakes". If you are used to going to high-end restaurants, you should know better than to tuck your dinner napkin in your pants. I commend the wait staff for remaining gracious in providing service in spite of their obnoxiousness.Overall we had a great dinner and I highly recommend. I would love to buy the art too!!!

The food is excellent. Very well presented, full of original flavours which blend beautifully. The wine list is impressive but if you don't wish to pay several hundreds of euros for a bottle you can buy by the glass, much more reasonable and very tasty too.Unfortunately the atmosphere is a bit monastic : very hard seating, repetitive music and since we were the only customers during the 90mn we spent there it felt very quite indeed. Quite relaxing after a day spent visiting but a bit intimidating. Probably ok if you want to hold your girlfriend's hand while you are whispering sweet words to her during the pauses between courses otherwise you might feel a bit lost !

Just a few meters from Porta Ovile and 5 minutes from the Piazza del Campo you will find Campo Cedro. A restaurant that in its dishes marries tradition and innovation with hints of oriental flavors. More easily reached by foot than by car, the restaurant
Despite it being a Thursday night in July there weren't many other people in the restaurant, which is crazy given the standard of the food and the prices. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu at â¬55 which, given the prices we paid in other restaurants in Siena and other Italian cities, is pretty good value. As for the food, the Tuscan-Asian fusion worked for us and the portion size just right to get us through 7 courses without feeling as though we'd overeaten. Favourite dishes were the amuse-bouche, which perfectly set the scene; shrimp tartar with tartar sauce and saffron-puffed rice; and seared tuna with sesame sauce and seaweed salad. A really friendly place that deserves to be packed every night.Dear Jack, thanks so much for your nice words. We are very pleased to know that you enjoyed your dinner with us! We really hope to welcome you again soon to our restaurant! A big thank you from all of us here at Campo Cedro!

We popped in for a quick snack without having done our research - and it was as good as previous reviews. Excellent panini made to order, nice vernaccia and very friendly service - very good value near San Domenico.

Mugolone Restaurant is positioned along the Via dei Pellegrini street front, the obligatory and highly central route between Piazza del Campo and Piazza del Duomo, practically equidistant and just a few meters from both the "Mossa", starting point of the
We came for lunch to this wonderful and modern restaurant with stylish interior. All service personnel was very friendly and helpful. Food came quickly, was freshly prepared and tasted excellent - what a difference to all the other standard tourist places in Siena. Is this a helpful review? We loved this small family-run restaurant. They had seating outside along the steep street, but we chose to eat inside. It had a clean and modern feel. We ordered three glasses of Prosecco and a glass of the house red. Our waiter (who I think may have been the owner) was nice enough to ask us if we wanted a bottle of Prosecco for the same price. Two of us had the Tuscan Cacio e Pepe. It was amazing and done perfectly. We also had ravioli with meat sauce that my daughter said was fantastic and a pecorino stuffed spinach pasta with tomatoes, pine nuts and a white sauce that was delicious. They did not have spinach so the chef sent out grilled tomatoes. The cost was very reasonable. We would highly recommend!!Thank you!

Great buzzy atmosphere and very good food. However if youâre going for dinner go for the second sitting at 9pm otherwise you feel very rushed which takes away from the enjoyment Ciao Eileenm962, quando hai prenotato il locale era pieno e ti abbiamo proposto di venire alle 19.00 ma di lasciare il tavolo libero per chi aveva prenotato prima di te. Lorella

I previously reviewed this Salumeria back in June 2015 when it was rated as the No: 1 restaurant in Siena and could not understand how it achieved that rating given that it was really just a salumeria and small delicatessen that had a very small internal seating area although there were also a few tables outside. Some four years later it is still no: 1 and obviously has a very loyal following on TripAdvisor. Not much has changed since our first visit. The small building is still divided into two areas, the shop with its meat, cheese, salad and fresh food counter on one side and a selection of other foodstuffs and fresh fruit on the shelves opposite. The other area has a small internal dining room and kitchen with a small number of tables. Since the date of my first review we have spoken to the owners of the apartment where we stay in Siena and have found out that this is their "go to" place whenever they are seeking to buy cold meats for a special family occasion. We have also had the opportunity to sample more of this salumeria's products that are largely made in-house. On this most recent stay in Siena we visited this shop on five occasions to buy various cold meats and pre-made salad items.Without a doubt the in-house made prosciuttos, salamis and, especially the porchetta, are some of the best we have tasted. Some of the salads and quality of the vegetables was also very good. There is also a good range of cheeses to choose from.During our visits we have found the owner to be very hospitable and, rightly, very proud of what he produces and very keen for people to sample his products. His coffee is also very good.

Pizza was acceptable, salad as well but far too big! Service very slow, toilet you wouldn't go ever and finally we got the wrong check after asking 3 times. There are many other typical Pizzerias in this very nice city but definitely not the favorite!
