Discover Restaurants offering the best European food in Segovia, Province of Segovia, Spain. Segovia is a picturesque old city with twisting alleyways, the highest concentration of Romanesque churches in all of Europe and pedestrian-only streets, all bordered by a medieval wall and two rivers. In 1985, this sleepy Castillan town was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. One of the main tourist attractions is Alcázar, a royal palace built sometime around the 11th century where Queen Isabel agreed to fund Christopher Columbus’ exploration of the New World. The picturesque palace is said to be Walt Disney’s inspiration for Cinderella's Castle.

Our second night here and I couldn't face another cochinilla or lechuga so we went for a pizza and a lasagne di carne. Both very nice. House red was a young tempranillo rioja, preceded by a beer while waiting for the kitchen to open at 8. Finished off with a sicilia bitter. Not a lot of indoor seating but a nice meal.

After arriving late in Segovia, we stopped here, the first restaurant we came to.We ordered the pulpo a la Gallega (octopus) (E 12) and a racion de cochinillo (roast suckling pig) (E 18). Whilst we enjoyed both dishes, the cochinillo we ate the following night at El Bernardino was better. With bread, mineral water, tinto verano and several beers, the total bill was Euro 53.30, which we thought value for money. One thing to bear in mind. Whilst the cafe/bar and restaurant are co-located, you cannot have a drink at the bar and then decide you want something to eat. Food can only be ordered from the restaurant, which means finding and changing tables - something which can be difficult in peak times. The restaurant normally has a spectacular view of the Roman aqueduct (but this view was obscured by huge tents for a food and wine event).

We had dinner at this restaurant as part of a group. A companion and I ordered a bottle of wine, and gave the payment for the bottle to the group leader, who was paying the total bill for the entire group. After the leader paid and left, the waiter, obviously a seasoned professional who saw an opportunity, presented us with a bill for the bottle and demanded payment. Since our leader had left, we had no choice but to pay (or call the police, which in Spain would have been of doubtful use.) The restaurant is staffed by thieves who should not be trusted. Diner beware!Dear Customer.Once we have researched your experience in our establishment, we have verified that your guide paid the group invoice by credit card. SHE (TOUR GUIDE) PAID ONLY THE CONTRACTED SERVICES. SHE DIDN´T PAY THE WINE BOTTLE. Unfortunately through Tripadvisor we can´t attach this information for everyone to see, so we would appreciate it if you would contact us to send you a copy of the dinner bill, as well as the visa ticket, and you can check that what we tell you is true. It´s very serious to accuse someone of a thief, so please talk with your guide to clarify what happened.OUR ESTABLISHMENT NEVER COLLECTED THE BOTTLE OF WINE TWICE.Best regards,The Restaurant Manager.

One of the many restaurants servibg the local specialties of cochinillo, castellana soup, and beans "judias de la granja". The judias and soup were very bland, and somewhat lacking in flavour. The cochinillo was fine, but nothing special and lacking in meat. Sorry....Wouldnt go back.

We had a nice 3-course dinner for 25E each. It included bread, water and a glass of wine. I had the Monastery Salad, which included salmon on mixed greens. The main was tuna steak with roasted potatoes and desert was hazelnut brownie. Delicious. Hubby had the "Big Bean" soup, Baby Lamb Legs, and Cheesecake. He really liked the soup and the lamb. The cheesecake was presented in a jar and that affected the balance of the ingredients. Most of the problem was the 20:30 start time. We were exhausted from traveling from Barcelona and, as most Americans, used to dining earlier. Also, there was a huge party of about 15 ahead of us and we had to wait for them to be served every course. So, while we enjoyed the food, it was just the wrong time for us. We had lunch there in the bar the next day and that was just right. Good food, good service.

I'll be honest, this isn't my first review of La Postal, nor is it my first visit. Actually, I think this may now be my fourth or fifth visit. I've mentioned before that I have a friend with an apartment, just off Plaza Major, in Segovia and I've persuaded him to take me back here. This time there was something new. The railway carriage. It's a relatively recent addition, but we'd never been able to book a table, such is the reputation for great food and great views, however this time we were lucky. We went with a friend from England and another friend who lives in Madrid. To state the obvious, the views of Segovia are absolutely stunning; better than those from the Paradore because here you look across fields. I could sit for hours watching the light change across the city.If that's not enough, the food is amazing too. I often go for the suckling pig, which is great, but this time I went for suckling lamb. I wasn't disappointed - actually I was slightly, but that's only because I couldn't eat all of it, as there was almost enough for two. On the plus side, I managed to save space for dessert (it's a 'different' stomach of course). Needless to say that our starts had also been delicious and the recommended wine was a perfect match for everything. We finished as four guys, slouching back into our chairs, with happy smiles. Lovely. After my meal I decided to walk back into Segovia. It's a lovely amble after a fantastic lunch, especially as it only takes about 30 minutes. I needed the walk, but while I had the chance, I would sneak a glance backwards and wonder when I'll be back next. 2017 perhaps? Who knows?

Called in here for lunch on a recent trip to Segovia having seen the favourable reviews on Tripadvisor. Glad we did, it was excellent. We were also very lucky to get in as if we had arrived about 10 minutes later we would have had no chance. They must have turned away as many people as were in the restaurant whilst we were there. We had come for the suckling pig and we weren't disappointed. It was on the 28E menu. There was an 11E menu as well that most people seemed to be having. The place was rammed and had that lovely buzz that you get in restaurants sometimes. This felt like a real community hub. Our starters were peppers stuffed with bacalao and a lovely bean stew, the very large beans being something specific to the area. Then the main event, the suckling pig, which was put on a separate table in its cooking dish next to ours and cut up into segments before being put on our plates. It also came with a basic salad. Get stuck in! Delicious. I especially liked nibbling on the crispy snout! I know, sounds horrid, but I was immediately transported back to the flavour of pork scratchings in pubs in England years ago. Desserts were a ponche Segovia (creamy, custard tart) and a lemon mousse (often found on menus on this holiday) that needed more of a lemon flavour (like most lemon mousses on this holiday). I like lemon. The meal also came with wine, bread and water. Service was terrific. Faultless. Polite, informed, efficient, caring. Highly recommended.
