Best restaurant in Monteporzio, certainly one of the best in the Castelli area. First courses are remarkable. Good choice of wines. Friendly, but always discreet service. Highly recommended.

Love truffles - restaurant and shop
Our group of 5 stopped here for lunch while driving from Rome to Sorrento. Our driver called ahead to reserve our table, and we were delighted with the welcome we received as well as the fantastic service. Several of us ordered the roasted chicken breast, with it's perfectly seasoned drippings falling onto a bed of thinly sliced zucchini. Delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. Excellent wines, outstanding lunch. We were so please with this restaurant and would highly recommend.

It's hard to know how to rate this place. We went there last week for lunch and not all was really tasty!I loved the "tagliata with mushrooms" but pasta, antipasti and dessert were well below average!!I rated 3 because of the location, great views and lovely temperature, very nice cool dry gateway off Rome.

Dal 1969 Il Castellaccio da Secondo, a disposizione per pranzi, cene, eventi, siamo a vostra disposizione
I went there with my boyfriend with a Groupon. When we arrived the waiter who recieved us instead of walking us to the table just pointed it and said: "that's your table". Not the best way to start. They poured the wine, and some "spumante" and pretty fast got our antipasti, that was, like some other review mentioned, a quite dissapointing, low-quality, little ammounts, way to start. While we were eating these antipasti (My mouth was literally full with food) the woman who we guessed was in charged came to take our order. (Would have it been really too much to ask to take the order before we started the antipasti or when we had just finished it???) Very rudly she asked what did we wanted, assumming that since we came with a Groupon ticket we had memorized our menu options from home. My partner asked me if I could remember the names, which of course I didn't (Being not italian make it hard for me to remember so many options), not even then she tried to be helpfull by reminding us what our choices were...Finally, when we could swallow our food we asked her what the options were, what she did feeling clearly upset (I still wonder why, Isn't it her job?).The pasta we had with funghi porcini was low average, I'm not an expert (again not italian), but my boyfriend was positive the boletus were frozen ones, while on the menu was specifically written they would be fresh..The meat course was even worse..We had read some bad reviews about that place, but all of them related to fish courses, so we decided to give a meat menu a try: BELIEVE Me YOU BETTER DON'T...the meat was bad quality, cheewy, tasteless and very bad presented. The side dish that was "patate duchesa" were hard potato pieces fried with some rosemary herbs...The dish where served was hot, really hot, but the potatoes were cold inside and disgusting...The dessert was the best of the menu, but considering what I wrote is saying very little about it. We had an average Tiramisu and a mousse of Fruitti del bosco...One could think that the fact of bothering a client while eating to ask them what they wanna order could be in order to provide a better service, and have the food ready, so the customer doesn't have to wait from course to course...not the case...The service was really poor, and we had to wait a big ammount of time from course to course..I will not detail their unprofessionality but as a sample I would say some waiter left the kitchen smoking...In conclusion: we paid 20⬠per person for a very bad quality food and an even worse service... I wondered exactly the same thing the other "terrible review" asked herself: is this is what you have to offer, I really don't wanna imagine you organizing and catering a wedding banquet....PS: the bread was hard and dry...

Coming back from a tour in Monteporzio Catone, we had booked this restaurant in advance as it had very positive reviews and was also recommended by some friends of ours. It's located in a privileged location with a cosy view on the village, a large parking area around it and a wide country-style dining room with a huge live cooking charcoal barbecue inside it. Genuine traditional local cuisine and a warm service were what we expected to find. And were not disappointed. An extensive range of starters were served, consisting of artichokes, Roman style (excellent!), savoury grilled vegetables (aubergines, zucchinis, radicchio, potatoes), lots of different bruschettas, salami and cold cooked meats. Afterwards we were tempted by tagliatelle with Porcini (very good) and then mixed grilled meat (chicken, lamb, beef fillet, sausage) with French fried potatoes and mixed salad. Cold beer and some rocket liqueur completed our tasty lunch. A typical restaurant with a genuine atmosphere and some specialties not to be missed.

Degustazione dei sapori del mare... con un tocco di Sardegna. Cucina prevalentemente marinara ma senza trascurare la cucina di terra. Locale climatizzato.
In Italy people often say that you have to go to the sea for the best seafood. But if you happen to be in the Castelli you can go to 'La Terra e il Mare' as well. It's a small restaurant with a cosy atmosphere in Montecompatri. Their specialty is seafood, but they serve meat as well - and of a perfect quality too! Try the 'degustazione antipasti mare' - it' s delicous and abundant. The spaghetti alle vongole might be the best we ever had in Italy (and we tried a lot over the years) The wine selection is very good, the complete selection of Tenuta Le Quinte and many more. The service is just like the food - perfect - friendly, fast, attentive.Prices are more than fair.

We went to celebrate the 1st birthday of my son with friends and family. The Location is amazing , plenty of parking space , amazing garden , with area for kids and a swimming pool. Inside there is lots of space , and tables . We had a nice table, the deco is rustic and very warm with the fire at the entrance . The waiter was very good and offered us a selection of antipasti , which was fantastic. Lots of food , local and truffles dishes. We then had selection of pasta , amazing . We were full as the portions are very generous , we will come back for the main another time. Great place , the food is good and the service is what you would expect from a family restaurant. the Price are reasonable and the final bill was good.
