As a professional chef I had the privilege of spending an afternoon and evening cooking with the extremely talented Chef/owner of La Locanda Bagnara. Chef Mirko, formerly the Executive Chef at the famous Quisisana Hotel in Capri, uses only the freshest seasonal ingredients and adapts his menu daily to showcase these items. When I visited we cooked no less than 15 different varieties of fish, hand picked by Chef Mirko himself at the fish market in Ravenna. Chef Mirko's passion for cooking shines through in every dish he creates- his philosophy is to use the best ingredients and let them speak for themselves without masking their flavours with cream, butter or strong sauces. Instead he compliments their flavours with fresh herbs, extra virgin olive oil and unobstructed vegetable purees and reductions. In a country where not much emphasis is placed on presentation (because everything looks and tastes so good anyway) Chef Mirko takes pride in making beautiful plates and likes to play with different textures and colours which further enhance his delicious dishes. Following my informative experience Chef Mirko treated me to a divine seafood tasting menu accompanied by a great selection of local wines from his extensive cellar. La Locanda Bagnara is situated in a historic building on the square in the picturesque village of Bagnara di Romagna and is definitely worth the trip if you're in the region. It's good enough to be a destination restaurant and in case you have too much wine, you can always stay over because there are a few rooms available upstairs!

Ci siamo fermati a fare colazione mentre andavamo giù al mare, caffetteria-pasticceria gettonatissima. Abbiamo mangiato paste e biscotti veramente ottimi ed ad un prezzo accessibile. Buona la caffetteria. Il personale è sotto stress ed un po' frettoloso. Pochi tavoli sia all'aperto che al chiuso. Qualche posto auto di fronte, se no si è in piazza della stazione ferroviaria. Ma bomboloni carichi di succulenta crema, biscotti al cacao gustosi, cornetti con altro tipo di crema pasticcera, sempre da ricordare. Bagno presente per la clientela, anche se bisogna pazientare per usufruirne. Grande varietà di paste di varie dimensioni e gusti.

La grigliata di castrato era buona e pure la piadina come accompagnamento, l'arredamento rustico carinissimo, ma ho aspettato più di un'ora di essere servita. Eravamo in tanti ma se per la carne ci vuole così tanto, meglio avvisare al momento dell'ordine.

Siamo stati in questo ristorante dopo tanti anni che non c'ero piu' andato. Bella sorpresa nel vedere una qualita' e quantita' era rimasta invariata, anzi mi sembra che il livello si sia innalzato. Cortesia e velocita' nel servizio (i tempi piu' che accettabili calcolando che era pieno) piatti abbondanti a prezzi piu' che onesti. Tagliere (abbiamo mangiato in 3) di formaggio e pizza fritta e salumi tagliatelle al ragu' strozzapreti con funghi e melanzane, 2 tagliate con rucola e grana patate al forno , 1 castrato, 1 coniglio alla cacciatora2 h2o 1/2 vino 4 caffe' 128 euro (eravamo in 6 e nessuno si e' alzato con la fame) che dire da tornarci la prox volta prenotero' le rane!!!

à la prima volta che mi capita di essere accolto con tanta familiarità in un ristorante dove non ero mai stato e questa sensazione lâho avuta non solo con Roberto, fantastico padrone di casa, ma anche con le sue collaboratrici. Appena ci si accomoda Roberto si diverte ad affettare della salsiccia passita che ti serve con pane di Altamura e poi ti fa servire del pinzimonio freschissimo di stagione con una salsa alle alici mai assaggiata. Subito a seguire: fichi caramellati di produzione propria, squacquerone, prosciutto con gnocco fritto e la piadina che non può mancare. A quel punto arriva Roberto che ha un metodo molto originale e divertente di sciorinare il suo menù, è quasi una filastrocca. Un menù continuamente arricchito dalle novità stagionali, ma nel pieno rispetto della tradizione romagnola con incursioni in altre regioni come con la ribollita rivisitata. Mangiare in questo ristorante mi ha levato di dosso una settimana frenetica ed i tempi concitati che ormai tutti siamo obbligati a rispettare. Grazie Roberto della bella serata conclusa con dolci straordinari e anguria in ghiaccio.

I went here last night with some friends from the area who I meet up with every year when visiting a nearby town .One of their family had been before and recommended it to us so we thought we would give it a try .If you fancy doing some Outlet shopping before dinner , then it's just a stones throw away in the car from Castel Guelfo outlet centre .So , the entrance whilst on an industrial estate was modern and welcoming , and the ambience created from a converted chocolate factory is both contemporary and fun. There is a large flat screen TV at one end of the room but it wasn't distracting .The menu was great from the alla carte to pizzas .The family owner was friendly and the son has worked and lived in London ( including the Savoy) speaking great ENglish .They do specialise in German and other artisan beers ( not even selling italian Peroni) but the food menu looked lovely too.The food was good quality and nicely presented. We had the antipasti , all good. The pasta's all good and I secondi .....all good !The deserts were on the sweet side , but hey forgivable! As usual limoncello and 2 other variations were offered gratis.I will definitely go again m many thanks to the Delferro family's!
