We were in Monteverde only for 2 days and we enjoyed our meal so much the first day that we just had to go back for lunch the next day. The chicken was tasty and succulent, and the portion size generous. We could see the chickens being roasted on a spit in the kitchen. Raulitoâs versión of chimichurri sauce went very well with the chickenItâs a really casual place, with high chairs at the counter, or a couple of tables at the side. Excellent value for money. It was about CRC 2,875 for chicken with one side (options of papas fritas, arroz or pinto). I had just the chicken with a tortilla and thatâs about CRC 2,300. Service was prompt and the owner, Señor Raul, is really friendly. Totally recommend if you are looking for a tasty, no-fuss meal.

Restaurante de lucia is a bit off the well traveled tourist road but definitely worth the short way on a dirt road. It is a quiet lovely, uncluttered dining room and our waiter was just the right amount attentive, available but not hover-y. However, what brings me to writing this review is that they have the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. Generous servings of pan fried to perfection, very fresh fish.

Full disclosure, this restaurant is attached to our hotel, Hotel Tropico Monteverde. But it is independently operated by owner Juan Carlos and chef Jonathan. The day we arrived at our hotel happened to be the day the NFL playoffs to determine the Super Bowl contenders was going to be determined. Juan Carlos got the games on his TV in the bar and we were at the restaurant from 2:00 pm until the 2nd game ended at 9 pm. Our group of five mowed through every appetizers, some twice, in order to watch the two games. The next night, following a full day of fun at the Selvatura Adventure Park for hanging bridges and ziplining, we had a formal dinner. My wife & I split the rib dinner with vegetables and a baked potato. We could barely finish it. And lest you forget, La Fogata has a full bar so they can make you that sundowner if all you want to do is watch the sunset over the Gulf of Nicoya. Even locals come here to watch the best sunset in Monteverde.

We went here for dinner. They had a great selection of pasta and and lots of different pizzas. There menu had many choices. We decided on pesto spaghetti and a pizza. The food was delicious. Definitely the best pizza we have had here. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Great place to eat. Highly recommended!

This is a great restaurant ran by local people. The service is friendly and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Jack Daniel one of the owners made us feel really welcome. We had a buffet with local food and it was delicious. They have a fire pit so you can relax after your meal and have a few drinks watching the stars around an open fire.
