La Fenice offers very fresh fish dishes. I highly recommend the grilled Orata or Spigole. On one occasion the staff called my husband and let him know they had specially prepared just from his request one of his favorite pasta dishes. This family run restaurant is in the heart of Fiumicello and very popular with both the locals and visitors here as it is just down the road from two of the popular hotels in town. Rosario and his lovely wife make you welcome and comfortable. I recommend you try this restaurant.

At the end of our meal at a neighboring restaurant, we noticed the World Cup match was tied between Columbia and England â so, Tom and I wondered to this small pizza joint called Pizza al Taglio Rosticceria that we had walked past earlier in the evening. The restaurant is a casual, pizza joint, where you order at the counter and can take your food to a few outdoor shared patio tables. The tables are partially enclosed and a TV is mounted on the wall.We were surrounded by locals and had a magnificent time. Virtually no English was spoken around us except a by a young guy wearing a Yankee hat sitting behind us and the owner of the pizza place. There were a ton of kids watching the game despite being rather late (after 11pm) and they were ecstatic when England won. The adults were not, including the lovely little old man who insisted I sit next to him for a better view of the game. Despite the language barrier, we were welcomed with open arms. If I wasnât stuffed from our dinner, I would have ordered the zeppoles like the young boy in front of me was eating or the arancini. Both of which looked delicious. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Scialuppa 25 is located at Porto di Maratea in the quiet, somewhat sleepy, harbour. We had lunch at Scialuppa 25 twice during our stay in Maratea. Both lunches were very good-excellent with great welcoming service by Andreas. We just turned up without reservations and were given outside tables in an almost empty restaurant from which we could watch the comings and goings on the harbour front inasmuch as there were any.On each occasion, we ordered the house white, which was good enough for our very good seafood fare. On the first occasion, I ordered the fresh antipasto di mare, which was really too much so, on our second visit, I ordered the smaller, nicely flavoured insalata di mare, which my wife had ordered first time and was just right. For secondi, I had a beautifully grilled, fresh, large swordfish steak, which my wife had on our second visit. Both steaks were wonderful. On our second visit, I had the over-cooked polpetti in beautiful tomato sauce with a side order of vedure grilliate. How do they get their tomatoes so red? The polpo was tender and the sauce nicely flavoured. I would recommend both dishes. We finished with locally-made ice cream, which Andreas acquired from a nearby restaurant, a nice limoncello, and cafe. I guess the same folks own both restaurants. All together, both lunches were splendid occasions helped by the relaxed location and the friendly, efficient, staff. When we return to Maratea, Scialuppa 25 and Ristorante 1999 will be top of our lunch venue lists.

This is not a nice place to sit. The restaurant is situated in sort of an industrial hall (see photo). But worse... the food was really bad. The mussels where uneatable (see photo) and the pizza was well below average. Donât spend your money here: go to Pizzeria Pepe which is next door.

The owner is like a clown, too much talk, nothing to sale. It is suppose to be a âpizzeriaâ and the oven itâs only for 5 pizzas, so we left almost in the morning. They should close this place so clients wonât loose the smile.

Nice garden setting, friendly family run place, service (includes free bruschetta) was friendly if a little erratic, and they served an extensive and fairly inexpensive menu of seafood, grilled meat and numerous pizzas (with a â¬3.50 starting price), the house wine is also a generous serving. The pasta with seafood was superb and the swordfish was cooked & presented in a innovative way. Given the price and standard of the food it is highly recommended.

This is a pleasant restaurant, easy to find on the main road, and with excellent friendly service. Prices are reasonable too.The veal with lemon sauce wasn't remarkable but was quite good with a generous serving. The tuna steak was very fresh and cooked perfectly. French fries were frozen not fresh. The ravioli with a fish stuffing was a disaster and had to be sent back. The fish stuffing wasn't fresh and had a pronounced fishy taste and smell. Other than the one disastrous dish, I would have given a higher rating.
