We had a casual cafeteria-style lunch at Vecchia Lira while visiting Volterra on a day trip from nearby San Gimignano. This restaurant has two dining areas, a front room beside a long food counter (where the available lunch items were on display and where we sat) and a full dining room in the back. Lunch is "self-service" meaning that you order at the counter and carry your food to an available table. We shared a hearty soup and a meat dish, both of which were good and very reasonably priced.

One only need read earlier reviews of Del Duca to see that this restaurant is indeed something very special and our experience of it was identical. Food of the highest quality, inventive but not pretentious in execution. Every mouthful an absolute delight. From the exterior you might not give this gem a second look but walk in and in summer youâll be shown through to a lovely outdoor terrace which is a perfect place to enjoy a fabulous meal. But go there soon as this must surely become the goto restaurant in this region of Tuscany.

Wish we had found this earlier during our stay. Anything we saw on the various tables and our own choice was tasty and very well made. The cold cuts are great, Lasagne perfect, Tiramisu as well. Even simple Bruschetta with Tartufo was a new experience. Recommended. Nice decoration under the roof.

Quiet place in the greenery half-way from Volterra & San Gimignano. Tipycal food at a reasonable price. Many home made products like olive oil, jams, liquors.
We were staying right near by and came here based on the reviews and also because of its convenient location near our accommodation. Note; we drove past the place in both directions twice because the sign, a large yellow one, reads "Ristorante Camere" and you cannot see that "Il Boschetto" is written in very small lettering above the part which reads ristorante camere. We gave up looking for it and decided to come here only to find we were in the right place. Don't let that stop you. With no reservations on a Thursday evening we were given a nice outside table for four at 7:30pm and had a great time. We all had pasta and some grilled meat dishes and house wine of course. The woman and young man who served us were very helpful and also spoke good english. A great choice if you are in the area, don't pass it up!

... and you have the view, the taste and the tuscan style. Located nearby a panoramic view point overlooking the region from Volterra walls, this spot is away from the crowds. Prefect service, great local wines by the glass. And the food, while you have a very light upprice vs. classical tourist traps, is absolutely gorgeous. For instance their tomato and olives risotto is perfect. Great spot.

Absolutely worth it! We came spontaneously at 7.40 pm and got a table straight away. Later the restaurant filled up, so a reservation can be helpful. The place is family run and everybody was really nice and helpful. We ordered a typical soup, pasta with wild boar ragout and ravioli with celery pesto. Everything was really good! Our favourite was the wild boar pasta.
