Find out what Wine Bar restaurants to try in Gubbio. Gubbio’s history pre-dates the Roman Empire to when it was, as Ikuvium, a major town for the ancient Umbrians. Now a city of 30,000, Gubbio has historical attractions spanning many periods. The 14th-century Palazzo dei Consoli houses Umbria’s largest collection of Roman artifacts. Gubbio’s most important date is May 15. 5 of us were looking for a light lunch in Gubbio on a foggy Autumn day. The place looked nice and the sign outside claimed that they serve "torta al testo" "degustazioni di salumi e formaggi" and salads. The prices on the menu looked fair so we stepped in and we ordered 2 platters of mixed salamis and 2 of mixed cheeses, 3 glasses of wine and a small bottle of water. The salamis were not specially good, but at least it was good quantity, but we were served two plates with bits of unfrequent cheese. We asked for Torta al testo instead of bread and we were said that they only had 3 bits left and that they were keeping it in case someone ordered a stuffed torta al testo... only when we said we we would stand up and go we were brought the torta al testo that was later charged 2 euros per piece!Unfriendly service, passable food, good wine, too expensive.

Fecchi Alessandro Enoteca Di Gubbio

It was too early for dinner & we were wandering the streets of Gubbio when we stubbled across this enoteca. And wow, we're so pleased we went it. Our host waited until he'd entirely finished with the previous visitors before attending to us (& was equally as attentive to us when others entered). He spoke perfect English, had an incredible knowledge of Umbrian wines & made great recommendations - it gave us a great orientation for the rest of our trip. Wine was amazingly priced per glass, making you want more than one ; ) Whilst sipping on your selection we were presented with a complimentary plate of bread, cheese & salami. We loved our time at this enoteca & tried several times, without the same success, to repeat the experience elsewhere in Italy. So by definition, this place is a one off!! Find & enjoy - you'll be accompanied by the occasional local resident who's in for his evening tipple, but pretty much that will be it ; )

Gubbio is fairly touristy especially in August, but we found this place for a light lunch which was pretty much in the centre. It is primarily an enoteca and certainly there was a huge selection of wine and a number of nice ones on offer by the glass. We ate the simple crescia which was very good. It's in an old vaulted room and was a pleasant place to sit. The place would have looked a lot better if the tables had been cleared promptly from what looked to have been a busy lunchtime, but that didn't seem to be a priority. We arrived around 2.00 so it was quieter and the service was friendly and quick. The floors of the toilets, particularly the ladies', were very wet probably because the taps were a bit violent and the driers didn't work, so there are a few points needing attention, but overall a nice experience.
