There are quite a few good places to eat in Foligno, including my preferred one, Premiata Officina Del Gusto, but unfortunately, most of them are only open for dinner. I was looking for lunch on a recent Friday and ran into La Spagnola: A Spanish restaurant it said, but the menu was all Italian, plus Paella and I decided to give it a try. The ambiance was pleasant enough, with nice touches of "flying cooks" and wine presses as decorations. Unfortunately, the food did not leave to my expectations. The frito misto de pesce was tasteless and the roasted peppers microwaved, thus turning into mush. A bottle different from the one ordered was brought to the table and quickly opened. They did take it back when I questioned it. Even inexpensive as it is, it's not worth it. A note: the interior DOES NOT look at all like the photo here above

I looked for a place where to eat baccalà in the area, and the only one that came out was Pizzeria Ristorante Vesuvio. I would not define this place a restaurant due to the fact that they serve food (mostly pizza as I could see) almost like a fast food: there is very low contact between the client and staff and the waiters (very young but polite) that deliver the dishes to the table and do not really know what they are serving and who are the clients.I went with a friend at dinner last nigh and both of us ate baccalà that was well prepared; the "paccheri con ceci e baccalà " did not have much baccalà , but a lot of ceci (garbanzo beens, canned?) and (good) cherry tomatoes. The flavors were not very well mixed and amalgamated. It seemed like if everything was mixed together at the last minute: a good pasta with tomatoes, anyway. We also had fried baccalà that was well prepared and well cooked, not greasy. My friend had a "passata di ceci con baccalà arrosto", that was well prepared and presented. Finally a "babà al rum"well cooked, but with no rum flavor. No emotions, unfortunately, just a decent meal.Short list of wines.A little bit too pricy for what you get.

Wonderful welcome from a most professional waiter. However things went downhill thereafter. Waited 45 minutes for our antipasti which did not require to be cooked! Other waiting staff did not seem very experienced. Had to ask for bread . Underwhelming secundi. May be tempted to give it a second chance.

Driving through Foligno earlier in the week, I saw this new sign âMangiafuocoâ in front of a building on Via IV Novembre. I liked the looks of the restaurant, and I also liked the name, which means eat fire in English. It turned out to be a quite pleasant dining experience. They had only opened 2 weeks ago, but seemed to be pretty well organized.I really liked the décor, a great blend of design and industrial gone white. We enjoyed a Bacon Bruschetta, Assortied cheeses, and a really nice Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Unfortunately, I only had my iPhone, which doesnât really capture the feeling of the place. Daniele Costarelli, the host was very nice and attentive. Looking forward to the next visit.

We were dropping friends at Foligno train station and, due to the time of their departure we planned to find a restaurant, any restaurant, somewhere near the station. As luck would have it, we came across Maninpasta. Apart from their poor choice of background music (to our tastes at least), the atmosphere and decor were very pleasant and welcoming - as were the staff.Although the menu mainly consisted of seafood, we two men chose fillet steaks. I have lived in Italy for a number of years and I have to say that this was the best steak I have ever had in this country. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection (al sangue for us both) and served with a delicate and delicious contorno. My friend was equally impressed and he comes from the USA where the steaks are almost always delicious. His wife had tortello filled with mozzarella and served with a tomato reduction and a basil pesto. She reports that the taste was as delightful as the presentation. My wife had the tempura chicken with a guacamole dip. She was disappointed with her choice only on the grounds that she thought we had all chosen better options. The house wines are made by the family and the bottle of red we tried was very good. The restaurant is relatively expensive compared with those we normally frequent in rural le Marche - probably to the tune of twice the price. But, on the other hand, the food was twice as good! The bottom line is that the next time we are travelling from Foligno we will try and take an afternoon train and precede the journey with a visit to Maninpasta.

Ristorante Da Angelo hosted my husband and I to sample our wedding menu whilst we made final arrangements for our event to be catered off-site by their partner business Angelo Ricevimenti.Tonino and Emi were our hosts. The food was absolutely exquisite! As was the service. We started with a glass of prosecco on the the terrace, a beautiful sunny spot overlooking the garden, stream and woods.Inside the restaurant we ate an 8 course meal featuring the highlights of Umbrian cuisine. Including Stringozzi served with black truffle, Sagrantino wine infused risotto, Chianina filet served with rosemary pesto and Colfiorito potato purée. They even served a mini mock up of our mille feuille and forest fruit wedding cake. Every dish was bursting with flavour, whilst the quantity of food was just right considering the number of courses. The presentation, attention to detail, food flavour and quality were excellent. The service was discreet and impeccable.Do yourself a favour and go out of your way to dine here, you won't be disappointed!thank you, reading your beautiful words is a real pleasure! Every love story has its best moment on the wedding day but comes to life before, in the dreams of the future spouses and Angelo Ricevimenti can tell unforgettable tales, like yours! we hope to see you again at our restaurant when you will come back to Italy!

This restaurant has been open for only a month or so now and we have already returned twice. The opening night proved to be a success with an excellent assortment of antipasti, pizza from a wood burning oven, great artiginal beers and champagne. The two wood burning ovens in the dining rooms, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is creative, modern and tasty. A great place that offers something for everyone. Enjoy!

Lovely cosy restaurant in the old centre of Foligno. The owner/chef is Sicilian and there are many typical Sicilian dishes on the varied menu. There are also some very creative photos around to enjoy as well as the excellent food.
