We had an amazing meal with great service. A warm welcome from hotel owner and attentive service from reception and restaurant staff. Chef also came out to speak to guests. Really an outstanding experience and we want to say thanks and wish them every success in their business.

We had discovered this fantastic restaurant in Umbria four years ago. It was one of those places that we still talked about, "remember that restaurant in Umbria...." Well, we were delighted to be able to make the drive from Spoleto and return for another wonderful dining experience. I'll leave it to others to describe the marvelous dishes that they serve. Just trust me when I tell you that it's well worth the drive to the small town of Sellano. We look forward to returning someday. And hopefully it won't take another four years!

La Casa Rosa is not merely "the local restaurant"; it is the heart of Castello di Postignano. The cuisine is simple and traditional. Its philosophy is also simple: respect tradition and use only the best ingredients. Hosts Michele and Maria Fulvia, immedi
Take a little drive up from Spoleto off the beaten path to find this castle on a hill where there is a beautiful little restaurant with some of the most incredible views you have ever seen. The prices are more than reasonable and the food is as fresh as can be. And the menu is traditional, yet surprising, offering something for everyone. A fantastic treat! And the people here are absolutely wonderful, loving, kind, caring artists of food and service.

After skipping the expensive Norcia and finding Castoro Restaurant closed, we opted for Scacchi located at the high point of Preci. The restaurant was busy and there were two tables of guests under the pergola although it was a showery day. The menu is extensive so we chose the Antipasto with cured meats and bruschetta, some pasta dishes including gnocchi with pork ragu, the spelt gnocchi with truffle, lasagne with artichokes, tomato and spelt pasta (fregnacce) with mushrooms and meat ragu. Mains: roast veal topped with rocket, boiled potatoes, beans, sautéed chicory, salad nicoise. Deserts were panna cotta with blueberries, tiramisu and homemade meringues served with Sagrantino passito. We sipped a good wine - Rosso di Montefalco which accompanied very well, had mineral water and coffees. Especially good were the cured meats with "best bruschetta" for this holiday, all the pasta dishes were very tasty and abundant. Service was a bit slow at the beginning but then picked up, and we were positively surprised by the low cost which was 85 Euro for 4. Excellent, would go again. Wood-fired pizza is also offered in the evenings.

This restaurant is a wonderful example of genuine, regional Umbrian cooking and food, in a small, unspoiled, rural village in the mountains. Our food was superb, starting with a very large antipasti of local cured meats and cheese. A delicious, complementary appetiser followed: courgette flower stuffed with anchovy and mozzarella, fried in a light batter. The secondi was a rich tagliatelle with beef and tomato ragu and then came the primi piatti of fresh local trout, roasted on the wood fired barbecue, served with salad. The experience of watching the chef cook this on the old, outdoor barbecue was fascinating and a great way to enjoy the local wine whilst digesting the previous courses! Our dessert of the classic Tiramisu, 'fatti in casa' was a lovely end to an excellent meal. The service was excellent as was the whole experience, and the only downside was that we were the only customers. Sadly this may be because the area is still recovering from the 2016 earthquake which damaged the village, so this restaurant needs all the customers it can get, as is the case for many businesses in the area. The price was very good for the menu we had, which included a litre of wine, bottled water, bread and coffee, at 35 euros a head. The outdoor terrace, where we ate, was a beautiful location to enjoy the stunning views and sunset, making this a wonderful meal served by lovely friendly Italian people and a unique experience. You must visit!

"Al Porcello Felice" (The Happy Piglet) you will be happy too. You can eat and drink well at fair prices, and if you have never tried the Umbrian cuisine specialties, there is no time to waste. Come for dinner and stay for your wedding banquet, if you fee
This restaurant is part of the camping il Collagio. We normally stay away from places like these, but this one really positively surprised us. Food is very good and plentiful with moderate prices. The mixed vegetarian starter is a true delight. Wines complement the experience. Service is good, but does depend on how busy the place is. The setting outside is lovely with a great view on the surroundings. We made a reservation to secure a place.

We have been holidaying in this area of Umbria for close to 20 years and have intermittently been to this restaurant over the years. It has changed hands on a number of occasions but the new owners really do know their cooking! Very typical food done with flair - came away hardly able to walk - the portions are very generous! The terrace outside in the evenings is a picture looking over to the abbey, in the UK you would pay a small fortune just to sit on the terrace. Please make the effort to go here - the food is tremendous and this is in an area of the world where nearly every restaurant is good. These people really do deserve to succeed - please give them a try - you will not be disappointed.

Il Castoro looks like a large wooden cabin at the bottom of the hill from Castelvecchio. Inside it's a very welcoming restaurant which gives the impression of being a typical Italian country restaurant....which it is. It serves fantastic local food, in particular meals made with truffles and various wild boar recipes. The pizzas and pasta dishes are good too!! We've been here a few times and the service has always been good and the quality of the food is consistently good. You must try the truffle omelette, one between 2 people is enough.
