I made the trip to the region famous for its truffles and charcuterie. This restaurant showcases the famous ingredients with easy swagger. The antipasti mixed plate of salamis, sausages, cheeses, breads, prosciuttos, toasts with tomato paste, truffle paste or artichoke spread was worth the drive! My pasta with cream and sausage just the right blend of salty and al dente pasta. I ordered the ricotta/chocolate crostata and it too had wonderful balance of sweet and chocolaty. My friend ordered the trout and was quite happy with the freshness and seasonings.

We had discovered this fantastic restaurant in Umbria four years ago. It was one of those places that we still talked about, "remember that restaurant in Umbria...." Well, we were delighted to be able to make the drive from Spoleto and return for another wonderful dining experience. I'll leave it to others to describe the marvelous dishes that they serve. Just trust me when I tell you that it's well worth the drive to the small town of Sellano. We look forward to returning someday. And hopefully it won't take another four years!
Ariving in Borgo Cerreto we hadn't booked any place to stay for the night yet. In a town where everyone knows each other, a nice lady from a bar went up to a friend to ask if he still had a room for two. We were lucky to find this lovely place with great spacious rooms. The agriturismo is surrounded by quiet nature and the host is very friendly. We didn't have our dinner there but the breakfast was excellently prepaired. The only thing that bothered us a little is the fact that the agriturismo is not very well excessable by foot. By car it is no problem, but walking from Borgo Cerreto you'll have to walk beside the road without any pavement.Never the less, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend!

La Casa Rosa is not merely "the local restaurant"; it is the heart of Castello di Postignano. The cuisine is simple and traditional. Its philosophy is also simple: respect tradition and use only the best ingredients. Hosts Michele and Maria Fulvia, immedi
Take a little drive up from Spoleto off the beaten path to find this castle on a hill where there is a beautiful little restaurant with some of the most incredible views you have ever seen. The prices are more than reasonable and the food is as fresh as can be. And the menu is traditional, yet surprising, offering something for everyone. A fantastic treat! And the people here are absolutely wonderful, loving, kind, caring artists of food and service.

As soon as you walk through the door of this restaurant you notice it has a warm, modern ambience. The food is great; virtually everything is home produced and the young, enthusiastic owners provide a friendly service. We didn't have the antipasto but when we saw it we wished we had; our wood-fired oven pizzas were fab, as were the home-made desserts. The wine list is almost completely local, but like the rest of this place, had a little bit of something different about it. The prices throughout the menu are very reasonable. We'll definitely be paying another visit.

This area of Umbria is known for pork, but this restaurant also serves other meats, fresh trout from the nearby stream, as well as delicious pastas and salads. We came for lunch and loved the selection of local pecorino (sheep) cheeses. In fact we came back for dinner and had the equally excellent selection of caprino (goat cheese). My wife had the âfish and chipsâ for lunch, with excellent fresh trout, and had the crusted trout filet for dinner. I had a delicious cacio and pepe (cheese and pepper) ravioli with black truffle sauce at lunch and a very special vegetable dish at dinner. The cooking and plating were both inventive and satisfying. As was the millefoglie with caffè corretto cream for desert. I wish I lived nearby! We also enjoyed some very good local wines at both meals.

We had a quiet lunch here during our summer holiday on the outer terrace which was al fresco dining of the best kind. Attentive waiter and friendly owner who was very courteous. Perfect Umbrian cuisine. We'd cooked the same 'prodotto tipici' in our self catering house but fancied a rest and let the chef take the strain, we we're not disappointed in the quality. The inside of the restaurant is carved out of the rock with an impressive wine cellar which really is a cave. The best place to eat near Cerreto or Borgo. Luigi e Christine
