At Borgo , a convent of 13th Century located in the Woods where century history joins the breathtaking beauty of Nature that leaves one amazed and intrigued with it’s respectful silence and peaceful tranquillity. The authentic / natural symbiosis of animals such as fallow deer with Sardinian donkeys, domestic pigs and wild boars, alpacas, cows, cats and dogs won’t leave one indifferent. The dogs Akita Inu and Caucasian Shepherds control and protect animals that we welcome. We save our four-legs residents from situations of discomfort or abandonment or due to indiscriminate hunting. These active and intense tasks make Borgo always alive and ready to excite. And a caress or a curious glance of one of these specimens is enough to restore the mind and body … Much attention and care is dedicated to all of our animals. For their well-being and soft settling, instead of being relegated to a cage or small enclosure, we set them in particular enclosures and then left free on the property. United in different areas as heterogeneous groups they are accustomed to interact with humans and willing to communicate! A guide appointed by the property is available to guests who wish to visit them. Staying at the Borgo, tasting the dedicated cuisine in our restaurant or buying Borgo’s products are all ways to support our “Il Paradiso degli Animali” project.
Torneremo sicuramente!

Our Farm is located in an authentic 200 year-old farmhouse situated right outside of Perugia. We are a backpackers-friendly Organic Farm, with horses, a donkey, goats, chickens, interesting social and cultural activities and a new swimming pool with breathtaking views etc... In a few words, "The fun of a Hostel, the relaxation of a Farm Stay".... with a beautiful 360° view of both the city and the green hills of Umbria, the Green Heart of Italy! Torre del Colle is a tiny village but it is so sweet! We loved our stay at Ostello Bello, there was a delicious breakfast every morning with coffee, croissants, juice and yogurt in the main hotel building. We stayed in “the tower” room which was so scenic. Torre del Colle is a great location if you are looking for a relaxing vacation and are interested in hiking and biking around the nearby villages.

The Farm is located in the Natural Park of the Polvese island and offers rooms and apartments equipped with all comforts and a magnificent view of the lake and its colours. It is unique in its kind: an accommodation where the welcoming and friendly environment, large garden with sun loungers, hammocks and games, combined with the typical and genuine cuisine using locally grown biological products, herbs and home-grown organic fruit that is served in summer in the garden overlooking the lake, make it the ideal place for those who love peace, good food and the outdoors life. Ideal for romantic getaways and vacations with children, as well as a great starting point for visiting the art cities of Umbria and Tuscany.
Set on top of the hill of a small and peaceful island within a tranquil lake in one of the quietest region of Italy. You can't get a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. We went there for a set price fish menu. The food was delicious. The staff very friendly. The view from the terrace amazing. Unmissable!

The hostel originally was an ancient eleventh century church, now you can still see typical architectural elements and original frescos. It is located within the historical centre of Perugia very close to the most important and famous attractions and the main facilities..
I liked this hostel itself, very small but nice; modern interior, clean, very good WiFi, nice staff (Mariam and Veronica) at the reception, which is however only manned for a short time. And the central location is great anyway! I would have liked to stay 3-4 nights, especially since the price/performance ratio was right for me. BUT: the weak point of this hostel seems to be the lack of communication and the missing respectful treatment. Why? When I arrived by bike at about 19.30, I asked for a bed in a 8-bed room, as it was still advertised on Booking.com for €22. As I wanted to book directly, they only charged me €20 - great! So I booked right away for two nights and paid by credit card. However, the first of the two 8-bed rooms was already fully booked and apparently they forgot to take the offer off the platform - that's what I assume. So the boss instructed the employee via WhatsApp to sell the dorm, which I now have to myself, as a private room for the double price, €40, although the deal (for the dorm, 2 x 20€) had already been done and was paid!! I objected and in the meantime, of course, the offer was no longer on the platform. They said the supervisor would come in about 15 minutes, I wanted to discuss this matter with him. During about an hour I did not use the room, but the boss never showed up! After I insisted on my position the next day, they wrote me via WA that there is no free bed for the second night anymore. This was a LIE of course, but it showed me clearly how they deal with unwelcomed guests. In the afternoon, they wrote me that the €18 for the second night (already paid) would be waived, only to announce 15 minutes later that the management had had enough of my complaint and that my (paid) booking had been cancelled and I should vacate the room by 8pm otherwise the key would be blocked - WOW!! I can say with a clear conscience that I always expressed my arguments objectively and remained friendly in communication, so there was no real reason for this childish step. In the end, however, I gave in because I didn't want to change accommodation in the evening after my day trip and I was tired of writing with them. The decision-makers, whom I unfortunately never got to see, argued that they could set the prices themselves as they want and that they did not want to trade like on the fish market. I can understand this attitude. But to change the conditions AFTER the payment, I think it's unfair! One more detail: normally they charge daily €5 to store a bicycle somewhere inside. This months they don't ask for this amount because of renovation work or something, as the receptionist said. But, to counter my dissatisfaction, the bosses in the background said they would be so generous and waive the (currently non-existent) bike fee ... The bottom line is that these people don't take the truth too seriously.

We were travelling as a family and wanted to stay somewhere that was comfortable. We could not have selected better. David's place is truly wonderful. The furnishings and decor of the bedrooms and the dining area are exquisite. The beds were very large and comfortable. The bathroom is also very spacious and of a high standard. It was a real pleasure to stay there. David also provided an excellent Italian breakfast; there were a variety of things to eat and the quantities were very generous. David went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and this was appreciated. The location is also great as it is within the Medieval walls of Bevagna (and so is very atmospheric) but it is also very easy to go to neighbouring towns such as Montefalco. All in all it was a fantastic stay, and we will definitely return.

Located in the heart of a park near the center of Perugia, "Mario Spagnoli" Hostel is well connected with the main sights of the city.
When I first arrived at this hostel, I was pleasantly surprised by the looks of it on the outside. Never judge a book by its cover though. The grounds appear more like a small villa, but the inside is not like that at all. While a private room for the night (including en suite bathroom) is very reasonable in price (I believe it was 25 euro), the towels and soap were an additional 2.50 euro which I've never heard of. The biggest problem I had with this place were the other clientel. Lest anyone call me a racist, I will avoid going into too much detail. However, I think it's important to note that Perugia is considered one of the most dangerous cities in all of Italy (according to locals and other Italians), and the country has had a lot of problems with refugees from other neighboring countries, especially of late. Having said all of this, I was very comfortable being the only woman...and the only white woman there. I suppose there is nothing that hostel can do about that, as it's not their fault who frequents the establishment. However, I am allowed to feel uncomfortable in my surroundings, and in this case I was very uncomfortable with it. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to stay there because my company was putting me up for the night. The receptionist upon check-in was very friendly and gave me all the information I needed, etc.. However, that night when I came back from dinner, no one was at the counter, and I had to eventually call down to another guest from my window to the parking area to find out where the front-desk receptionist was, as I had looked for her all over the hostel. The guest told me that she was in the garden. I had to go back downstairs, and search for her in the back of the hostel, only to find her watering the flowers. She said she was alone, and that's why she wasn't at the front desk. I'd tried calling on the phone too, but since she wasn't at the desk, this is why she didn't answer. They do have a 24 hour cafe/bar where you can buy snacks and drinks, but they keep it locked. So if you can't find the receptionist and you're dying of thirst as I was - I guess you're out of luck. The room had no AC nor did they have a fan available, and I was dying in that room from the heat. The windows do open, but if you leave the window open, you also have to leave the wooden shades open as well, and everyone can see into the room. The room was comfortable, with a large queen sized bed, and an additional twin. I was so nervous with the other guests in that hostel, that I actually had to push the twin bed up against my door so that no one would come in. The lock was basic, and I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough. The breakfast the next morning was terrible. Hardly worth calling it food. The location is also not that great. Especially if you don't have a car, and are unable to use public transportation. I was lucky enough to eventually find the mini-metro that runs from near the hostel to the center of Perugia, but when I came back later that night there were no streetlamps, and there were some sketchy people wandering around that area at night. I was nervous coming back alone, and especially in the dark. It's about a 20 minute mini-metro ride into the historical center, just as a heads up. All in all, I would not recommend this place.

Casa Del Terzario (also known as Monasterio di Santa Elizabetta) is beautifully located in the center of the old city. This makes it an ideal location for walking to all the major destinations - the central plaza (with most of the restaurants, pharmacies, banks, and the very helpful tourist information office), the magnificent Basilica di San Francesco in the lower part of the city, and Santa Chiara, the other main church. I had a lovely room (specifically requested) with a view out over the rooftops of the medieval city and the church spires to the plain and mountains beyond. My balcony had a table and two chairs - perfect for watching the sun set in the late evening. There is a courtyard garden for reading and contemplation - a respite from the streets which are busy during the day, but much quieter in the early morning and after about 5 pm in the afternoon when the day trippers are gone. The quiet atmosphere of the monastery made this a perfect place for my personal spiritual retreat to Assisi. The room itself was very comfortable (including the bed) and meticulously clean. The breakfast was only average, but OK for a start to the day. I suggest you ask for espresso and hot milk - the "American coffee" was truly terrible. But the homemade lattes were delicious. In terms of wifi, the service was limited, and I could really only access it from one location - the dining room. The rooms themselves do not have wifi. The staff at this monastery were very kind and helpful - I liked all of them. Only one person at the front desk really speaks English, so be prepared to use Google translate and/or practice your Italian if she is not there! It is very easy from here to walk down through the olive orchards outside the city walls to the lovely old church at San Damiano for vespers service at 7 pm. (The Tourist Information office keeps a list of the times of all the masses, vespers and other services at all the churches in Assisi - a very useful resource.) It was also easy to walk to the bus stop for an inexpensive (1.3 Euro) ride to Santa Maria Degli Angeli - the church in the plains below the city with an important pilgrimage destination for lovers of St. Francis. To get to the hermitage in the forest on Mount Subasio at Carceri (also highly recommended), you need to take a cab. The hike up there is not recommended - straight up hill and really rigorous in the heat even for seasoned hikers. The paved road has cars and the foot path is very stony and difficult to traverse without serious hiking boots. Much more pleasant to cab it up. I hiked back and while beautiful, I found the downhill footpath very strenuous and hard on the knees. I stayed 5 nights at Casa Del Terzario and I found it the perfect place for a spiritual retreat in the City of St. Francis. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Assisi.
