The Botticella restaurant, located in the historic center, Piazza del Carmine, is a cozy and well cared for, where you can spend moments of relaxation in the company of family and friends, enjoying delicious dishes accompanied by fine wines. The chef and
We visited Pavia on Easter Monday, which doubtless was part of the problem. Few restaurants were open. We were seated and served our primi/appetizers within a reasonable amount of time, when a large group of nearly 20 people showed up without a reservation. When a harried-looking woman came out of the kitchen to glare at the young man seating the patrons, we knew we were in trouble. A half-hour later, when she dashed back into the restaurant with a grocery bag, we knew it was futile to expect the secondi within our lifetimes. I even went out after I had eaten my main dish to check on something, and 25 minutes later, my two companions had still not gotten their meals. We clocked it, and there was well over an hour between being served primi and their secondi. I had gotten my secondi in the first round, which I thought was odd, but in retrospect was a good thing, The lone waitress avoided our eyes and at no point was an apology given nor any recompense, such as a free coffee or glass of wine, offered. Both the fish dishes were superb, as was the pasta primi; seafood is definitely their strong point, but one companion's beef was fatty and he left half of it on the plate. I wondered if that's what the cook had gone out for and found only the worst leavings from the holiday weekend in the shop. This is not the first time I have seen a restaurant "compromise the kitchen" (a great phrase I heard from a French restauranteur in Menerbes when he refused to seat additional patrons) out of pure greed. Maybe the large group were all regulars, and we were tourists who would never be back. But be aware that if there are too many people in the restaurant, your service will definitely suffer. Too bad it takes away from the excellent cuisine.

Farmhouse restaurant golf driving range. Green and tranquility. Local products. Walk in the forest and bicycle lane.

Very authentic restaurant, super friendly and patient service. We have had our best pasta meals in this kind of simple restaurants in Italy, and this was no exception. Excellent quality to price ratio. We would go back any time! Some knowledge of Italian may be helpful.
