Monreale (Sicilian: Murriali) is a town and comune in the province of Palermo, in Sicily, Italy. It is located on the slope of Monte Caputo, overlooking the very fertile valley called "La Conca d'oro" (the Golden Shell), famed for its orange, olive and almond trees, the produce of which is exported in large quantities. The town, which has a population of approximately 30,000, is about 15 kilometres (9 miles) inland (south) of Palermo, the capital of the island.

This little place is evidently a bar and music venue in the evenings, but it also serves lunch.If like us you arrive at the Duomo jwhen it is closed (12.45-14.30), you could check it out as an option for lunch. If you get there just as it is opening up you might get the table we had on the tiny terrace with a view across the whole of Palermo. We noticed after 1pm that the place filled up very quickly until there were people queuing on the street above.There was a very reasonably priced two course lunch menu with a few options and with cover charge and a shared Birra Morretti alla Siciliana the 'conto' came to 28 Euros for 2. Both courses were served in a reasonable time and were of good quality, tasting home made. An enjoyable lunch.

Uno dei cornetti più buoni che abbia mai mangiato, con del pistacchio di Bronte vero e non i soliti cornetti al pistacchio dove senti di tutto tranne che il pistacchio.Eccezionale! Se vi trovate nei paraggi dovete assolutamente mangiarlo! Per poi non parlare del personale, troppo gentile, educato e alla mano. Un bellissimo posto, anche perché non solo puoi mangiare cornetti dolci, ma anche salati, per cui per un pranzo o una cena differente dal solito.

We passed this cafe on the way to the Cathedral and being desperate for the loo went in. Orders coffees and hot chocolates and cakes all of which were very good. All bought to our table by friendy staff who also pointed us towards the cathedral. Prices astonishingly cheap compared with what we are used to in the UK. Well worth a stop.
