If you're looking for a place with great atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic people who serve you then look no further than Hosteria Veneta. I stumbled upon this upmarket little place my last weekend in Cittadella and went back everyday until I left so I could try most things on the menu, all of which was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed the raw beef on rocket and pasta with raw fish. If life brings me back to Cittadella this is definitely the first place I would stop at to grab a bite to eat. Thank you

Excellent food, even better service from intelligent well-informed waitress. Options to eat inside or outside - no smoking at all, wonderful. Dishes were out of the ordinary but made sense, not way-out for the sake of it. Offered beer from the local brewery at Cittadella. Try the speciality dish of goose cooked for 26 hours. Very extensive wine list at fair prices.

For the month of November many restaurants in the region of Veneto partake in a promotion of THE GOOSE . So off we went my darling and I to this fine looking place to partake of a goose feast . The booking was hard to get and when we arrived were amazed there were over a hundred people there , it was Monday night. So obviously this idea is a goer amongst the locals. We did not even know what the dinner was to cost , and did not bother to ask Mr Gorgeous guessed about 50 a head as aperitives and wines , water and food was an all inclusive price. We were impressed to see a huge spit laden with geese turning away getting lovely and crisp while the fat dripped on charcoal offering an amazing smell to the huge room. We were served a lovely prosecco with some rustic canapés like lard on toast , pate on toast , green olives , fried zucchini and fried prawns. Our first course was a combo plate of creamy polenta a kind of sausage and zucchini with creamy gorgonzola sauce.We then had goose liver risotto , which was not to my taste but the little man enjoyed his risotto , then as I told you , he is easy to make happy. Following that we had a slice of just cooked pork with a sauce that was really tasty and complimented the pork well , but I don't know what sauce it was. The goose followed it was the best part of the dinner , moist tender meaty , the skin was deliciously wicked and well seasoned. The dessert plate had a sort of bread and butter pudding on it , two delicious biscuits, and a scoop of ice-cream that had absolutely no flavour.The wine kept flowing , i think the wine was of quite superior quality , the red was excellent , but i can't say what wine it was.The bill was 38 euros a head ...BARGAIN.The night was a long one , we were the first to leave at dot on midnight forgoing coffee and grappa, but my derriere was getting stiff and the night had to end.I liked the experience , the people in the restaurant provided some interesting sights to ogle at. The food while plentiful missed out a bit in the quality side merely because there were so many people there. But overall the price was very relevant to all what we had.I would like to return for the regular menu to get a higher standard of presentation and try other dishes.Dear Saskiagrav,thanks a lot!See you soon,Martino
