Traditional Neapolitan food. Made with love.
We called in here one evening, based on other reviews. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a ravioli. The owner was really welcoming, taking our order to the kitchen with a song which echoed with the fab acoustics in the building. The food came quickly and was absolutely delicious - the best pizza we had so far according to our 15 year old. The ravioli was equally tasty and a generous portion. The only minor disappointment was that there were no desserts available, despite the menu suggesting this would usually be an option. There is a gelateria and also a bakery a couple of doors down so we had to move on for our 2nd course.Overall lovely food, reasonable prices and a friendly welcome.

Neither the manager nor his mother speak English. However, they didnât hesitate to call their niece/grand-daughter to help with the translation. And that was actually not necessary, as they composed a delicious plate with all the local specialties we pointed at. And then picked a lovely red wine for us. Why anyone prefers the nearby tourist traps with horrible pizzas (some with French fries on top !!) to this gem is a mystery to me.

The sandwich shop is on the main road from the Torre Annunziata train station to the magnificent Villa Oplontis de Poppaea. It offers a wide variety of handmade sandwiches and has cold refreshments as well. It serves a local shop so you will find various products there. We were given a map by the very hospitable owner who was a delight to chat to. Although my Italian is far from good I managed a nice conversation with him. We had the traditional Caprese sandwhich which was delicious and of high quality product. The bread was fresh and the mozzarella cheese had a perfect balanced taste in combination with the tomatoes (pomodoro) and the salad. He made the sandwich while we waited and was pleased to offer us a big chunk mozzarella. The sandwich itself was big for a very reasonable price, kept us full until late evening. Well worth it. He also gave us a piece of a traditional Naples pie-like local delicacy. We can't remember the name but it was very tasty. The shop is in a very good location situated just before the Tourist Information which is few metres away from the very well preserved Villa Oplontis, the villa that belonged to the wife of Emperor Nero at the time of the eruption. The Tourist Information is attended by another friendly chap who is training to become a tourist guide.

"Caupona" (means restaurant in Latin), just like in ancient Pompeii existed long cauponae 89, the most famous is that of Lucio Vetuzio Placido, one we faithfully reconstructed, perfectly decorated with hand-third style frescoes and meticulously reproduced
We came here for lunch after a morning visiting the ruins at Pompeii. The reviews are all wonderful but it didn't really live up to the hype. It was quiet for lunch (apart from a group leaving and shouting "don't order anything here, it's not fresh!" - not a great start!) and the costumes came across as a bit tacky. The food was pretty poor - my ravioli dish was lacking in flavour and a bit stodgy. We were also left waiting 43 minutes (I know this as we had set a 45 minute limit before we walk out!) for our food - two pasta dishes! They did try to get us to order a starter as the pasta would take awhile to cook (?) so I got the impression that we were being made to wait on purpose. I can see how this place might be a bit of fun on a busy night but I wouldn't be going back to see!Dear, always thank our customers for having preferred us and for the time you have wanted to spend with us ... leave an honest review, a suggestion, an impression makes us pleasure and improves us under many points of view ...get a bad review, we regret very much, as Caupona manager apologize for the unfortunate experience you have had with us and I would really like to understand better what we have lost in our customer care satisfaction. The thing we regret the most is that you have not met your expectations, do not understand how this could have happened ...we try to give our best at all times, even very outdated business hours, if there are any mistakes, we are ready at any time to correct ... is our philosophyâ¦We are really sorry this happened and very sorry of your disappointment, especially that you thought the food was not all 'height ...try to give more and better, and at all times, we strive to improve in every way, every day, and every time ... thanks

Would highly recommend eating here when in Pompeii. This is the best meal we had whilst in Italy - the pasta with sage and butter sauce was outstanding. The boar soup was also great.I'd recommend booking in advance as I don't think they open every night.Very laid back service but great food.

Little restaurant near Naples, Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii Ruins, worth visiting. Great service, wonderful staff, tasty food. Great ambient and beautiful space. Offers welcome drinks, antipasti, ''continental'' and ''sea'' main dishes, pistachio and coffee tiramisu desserts and homemade limoncello and meloncello all of which cannot be skiped. And strong Italian coffee at the end. Has that special Italian vibe. If you find yourself in this area, don't miss it.
