We had great expectations of this place, but our excitement was quashed by a cool welcome and being ushered into a characterless, cold 'sun' room with no furniture, decorations or atmosphere with a load of people feeling awkward. The tables were unready and the wine we bought had to be drunk out of beakers. It felt like being back at school. The dinner was unimpressive, but adequate I suppose. â¬40 a head without wine rather steep.

The Church Restaurant is located in the heart of Skibbereen Town in West Cork, it was originally a Methodist Church from 1833 to 2003. Steeped in history and character with lovely stained glass windows and high wooden ceilings, The Church Restaurant is op
This was, by far, the best place we ate in Ireland (and we ate in lots of lovely places). This once Methodist chapel has been restored to the highest of standards and tries, were possible, to source it's food locally. We hadn't booked but we were lucky enough to get a table (no mean feat on a Friday evening). The staff were amazingly attentive and helpful. We choose of the fixed price dinner menu, I had the pork loin stuffed with black pudding, which was mouth wateringly tender, served with vegetables. My husband had the Malaysian chicken curry, which he throughly enjoyed, all washed down with a good bottle of Sauvingon Blanc. I had ice cream for pudding whilst my husband had a crumble, all washed down with a lovely pot of coffee. By this time we were very full and happy and the manager said he would order us a taxi to take us back to our accomadation. Sadly every taxi in Skibbereen seemed to be busy that night, but one of his waiting staff, who was going off duty, offered to drop us off. Now this really was above and beyond the call of duty. The kindness shown to us by all members of staff at this fantastic restuarant was second to none and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

This popular restaurant is what West Cork is all about. The clientele and staff were a mixed bunch of foodies from all over. No pretensions or "emperor's new clothes" about this place! The food was beautifully prepared and presented. I would honestly say that my own cooking and diet have been greatly affected by my experience here. The surprise dish is a great idea.

Have eaten here on many occasions when in West Cork. Place is always buzzing albeit it is relatively small. Lovely selection of simple food cooked beautifully. Service was excellent as always. We ate hake goujons with lovely side salad and home made fries as well as roast chicken & ham with potatoes and veg selection. Always look forward to returning!

My family and I wanted to go to Baltimore Ireland since we are from Baltimore Maryland. But also we hoped to get off the tourist path. Foreign tourists are not common in Baltimore but Irish tourists are. The town is small on the southern side of the island right on the water. The small town square had a few restaurants. We chose Jacobâs Bar. My wife and I shared a blue cheese pizza. I cannot describe how delicious this pizza was. Irish pizzaâwho knew? The only reason I knocked a star off was because we had a hard time getting water.

The owner of this establishment is charasmatic, hunky, tall dark and handsome. When he gets his apron on and starts rolling the dough in his strong hand I get tingles! Long live the king Youen Jacob!

Iâve visited the Glebe regularly over the years and the level of care and attention they put into their food is evident. You may wait a little longer for it but thatâs because itâs being made from scratch (Including the bread) from the finest ingredients. All the salad is brown on site. The family who own it are always ready with a welcoming smile. And if you have the opportunity, take a stroll through the incredible gardens and even see a show in the amphitheatre if thereâs one on, because itâs a special and unique experience. A perfect setting.

Rolfs is a family-run business established in 1979 by the Haffner family. Originally an old farmhouse, with a courtyard surrounded by traditional stone build outhouses and set in 4.5 Acres of mature grounds and gardens. The buildings, dating back several
Stayed here for one wonderful night after Easter and had a most delicious meal. Our delightful room was small but beautifully appointed with a stunning view of the mountain behind us and the lovely gardens outside the renovated barns. Our host Frederika and Chef Johannes couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We started with some delicious local gin's and tonics whilst looking at the menu and shortly after ordering were brought to our table overlooking the bay with the sunshine adorning the outside buildings. Our table was laid with little nibbles to start and soon followed our starters of King Scallops flambe in Cognac, simply perfection. Both our Fillet Steaks were requested rare and were superbly cooked, caramelized and crisp on the exterior and blood red but not oozing in the centre, rested to perfection, a masterclass in meat cookery that could very well be learned by many a chef in this country. the pepper sauce to accompany was divine, a nice touch was more was brought without asking, bravo!!! Rolf's has a wonderful wine list, plenty available by the glass with excellent variety, although I would love to have seen a few higher end options available between â¬45-â¬70 but that is just me. An utterly decadent chocolate dessert and a cheese plate followed along with a Tawny Apple Wine and a glass of the wine special Malbec, all of which were enjoyed in the bar area. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and stay in Rolf's but it was our hosts who made the the excellent feel exceptional and we look forward to returning again soon.Thank you for taking the time to write such a beautiful review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that the food moved you to writing about it. All to often in this industry its the negatives that can abound us however this has really made our day. Again thank you and we look forward to having you here with us again soon.Kindest regardsStephen

The fish and chips was the best battered fish I've eaten. The black sole reported to have been delicious. All the food ordered was of a very high standard. The staff were excellent. It was busy but we were never lacking attention (when needed).A lot of the fish and seafood does look expensive on the menu. But the quality and the fact it's cooked well makes it worth its price.
