Province of Messina, Italy Food Guide: 8 European food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Messina

Best European restaurants nearby. Discover the best European food in Messina. View Menus, Photos and Reviews for European restaurants near you.. At Sicily’s northeast tip, Messina is the first city being kicked by mainland Italy’s boot, just three miles across the Strait of Messina. It's a main port of entry for visitors via hydrofoils and ferries. Trains board the ferry, too, before continuing service. The 12th-century Norman cathedral, rebuilt after a 1908 earthquake destroyed it and much of the town, is the most famous attraction.

Pizza was good but I have to agree with other reviews that the prices are expensive. The customers seemed to be mostly local businessmen at lunchtime so I expect they are putting lunches on expenses so not too concerned about the prices, there was no extras like bread or anything

I really enjoyed the food in the restaurant and the service was friendly. My friend and I had fish dishes which were really delicious and well-presented. The house wine by glass was lovely, perhaps a little more expensive than I would expect in Italy, but generous measures.

We came here for an evening with our family!! The antipasti were great!! Especially the potato pieces in various sauces (speck, gorgonzola and salsiccia..)!! Pizza paired with a nice cold beer was awesome!!! For dessert a fair semi-freddo!

Very lovely atmosphere with nicely decorated tables, decent lighting and a stunning view to Calabria... Service is excellent (food arrives quickly and you are welcomed with a glass of Prosecco), and the food is very delicious. We had the catch of the day which you can choose from the display. There is a vast selection of Italian wine, national and local from approx. 15 up to 220 EUR. Most wines are around 20-40 EUR, and our "Etna" (red) at 29.- was an excellent pick. Overall one of the best meals I have had in Italy. Do not miss out on dessert! I am not a dessert type, but the mousse with almonds was a perfect finish of a perfect meal: Not too sweet and very light.

We have friend that lives just outside of Messina that decided this would be a good place to take our group for a fun evening. We didn't order individual dishes from the typical menu, our friend just ordered a bunch of food that came out family style. Mixed fried seafood, tuna, and swordfish that were caught just off the coast line. We probably had a slightly different experience than most travelers since we had a local ordering for us but even without a local, you will get a good meal.

Came for lunch from a tip at a Rome restaurant. We walked several miles from cruise ship to get here. They have a nicely priced lunch special menu. All of our party enjoyed their selection. Stuffed Fresh Calamari was to die for. If ever in Messina again we will be back.

Ok, so this is a city centre cafe/restaurant on a busy street in Messina and is never going to have ambitions to romantic alfresco dining. The food is the high point. My linguine with mussels and clams was great, my wife’s salad of prosciutto, melon, mozzarella and rocket only being let down slightly by mediocre cheese. We both had Sicilian cassata, which is a completely different animal from the more commonly known Neapolitan version and was delicious. Service was a touch erratic but pulled through. 50€ for two courses each, wine, water and tip felt a good deal to us.

Awesome dishes served by friendly and competent staff. Had an excellent Charlotte de Aubergine and tuna, all utterly delicious! Tasted and looked way more expensive than it was (60€ for 2 main dishes, one starter and 3 drinks), would recommend to everyone who is looking for modern but authentic cuisine.
