Reviews on Pizza food in Messina, Province of Messina, Italy. At Sicily’s northeast tip, Messina is the first city being kicked by mainland Italy’s boot, just three miles across the Strait of Messina. It's a main port of entry for visitors via hydrofoils and ferries. Trains board the ferry, too, before continuing service. The 12th-century Norman cathedral, rebuilt after a 1908 earthquake destroyed it and much of the town, is the most famous attraction.

Not sure what to make of a restaurant in Italy with a Plains Indian theme (and basically no English), but were we ever pleasantly surprised! We ordered two of the price fixed menus - antipasto, pasta, meat or fish, dessert, wine and water all included - fantastic! The antipasto plates kept coming and coming - 22 in all! Every plate held a delicious surprise that delighted our palates. The course of pasta was great and the meat and fish plates huge. The swordfish was especially yummy. The volume of food was huge and everything tasty. Despite the Italian aversion to "doggy bags", we just had to take the leftovers with us!

We went to Pizza Planet because it was close to the port and my wife wanted to try again Italian pizza having been disappointed in the past. We ordered a pizza with prosciuto e funghi. We agreed that the crust was one of the better ones we had eaten. The toppings were reasonably good. Light on the sauce and cheese as we like, particularly the sauce tasted more like real tomatoes than the processed American variety, some olive oil but the prosciutto, as is usually the case in Italy was just ham, and the mushrooms probably from a can or perhaps marinated but not fresh, and were plentiful. All in all quite good but short of excellent. The menu is very extensive and other choices may have had better toppings. Price was also reasonable and one pizza can feed two.

I have been here with my family for a special âbracioleâ (are a particular meat cut rolled with parmesan, bread crambs and other spices) typical in Messina. It is organized especially on Thursday evening. They offer you an all you can eat for all the braciole they cook with meat solution for 12⬠or with fish (sword fish, calamari and spadola typical fishes of the area) this solution for only 20â¬.Further they offer you a pizza bread, potatoes and salad. I am from Messina and I really enjoyed to try so many different kind of braciole at the same night for a really fair price and quality.

We came here for an evening with our family!! The antipasti were great!! Especially the potato pieces in various sauces (speck, gorgonzola and salsiccia..)!! Pizza paired with a nice cold beer was awesome!!! For dessert a fair semi-freddo!

My in-laws come to Messina every 2 years and Gitanoâs is their favourite restaurant. So last night we finally made it to Gitanoâs and tried it. We got served promptly. The service from all the wait staff was really good, excellent. The food was served really quickly. It was very nice and fresh and we got a very good surprise when we got the bill; it was so cheap! 82 Euros for 4 adults and 2 kids (6 and 9 years old) with pizzas for entrees. Definitely will do a second visit to Gitanoâs before we leave. Highly recommended.

In this restaurant you will get real Sicilian specialties. The food and also the hospitality is excellent. The food is fresh which is really important. The ambiance is soft and cosy. Because of the used colors you will feel like home. We have dinner in this restaurant for over 3 evenings!!

Came for lunch from a tip at a Rome restaurant. We walked several miles from cruise ship to get here. They have a nicely priced lunch special menu. All of our party enjoyed their selection. Stuffed Fresh Calamari was to die for. If ever in Messina again we will be back.

Walking around Messina, we found Mokarta. it was nicely decorated, we were welcomed in by the wait staff, and saw a few locals eating there. So, we went inside. It was an authentic eating experience. We couldn't speak Italian, they couldn't speak English, but we were able to order a delicious meal. We had 3 courses: Antipasto full of different tastes from veggies to lasagna, a pasta dish with tomato sauce that was delicious, and a sausage that wasn't too spicy. We ordered a rose wine, but we didn't like it; it looked more the color of ice tea than rose wine. We didn't order dessert, but the wait staff brought us each a complimentary piece of biscotti, and showed us how to dip it in the wine which was delicious. At the end of the meal, they also brought a complimentary taste of a lemon ice which was really good. They were so generous and truly cared about us having a great experience in their restaurant. And, we did!Mi ricordo perfettamente di voi, molto ma molto simpatici, spero di rivedervi presto e grazie per la bella recensione

Saw this on Tripadvisor and based on one specific review that mentioned the family, decided to find this little gem for an authentic meal. And certainly was not disappointed! Sat outside on a balmy evening and experienced the best service we've had in a long time! Delightful mother, charming father, with the two most adorable daughters and their best friend, looking after us as if we were part of the family. Scrumptious pizzas, delicious salads, topped off with the father's own homemade Limoncella, best we've ever tasted. A splendid late summer's evening in marvelous Messina. Most certainly recommended.
