Lucca is littered with restaurants for the typical tourist. This is not one of them. The staff is very friendly. If you don't like the wine they suggested they will more than happy bring you an alternative. The food is excellent and well prepared. All the typical Italian dishes are available, but they taste better than the run of the mill restaurants you will find nearly anywhere. Try the Tiramisu. Although is lacks the almond liqour and egg as ingredients, it tastes as good or even better than your standard Tiramisu. A nice surpiseThank you so much, we really appreciate your words; we are so happy to see our efforts rewarded by such a good review; you got exactly the point of what our mission and commitment are: being different, alternative and not one of those "fake italian" restaurants where tourists are ripped off by stereotyped hosts in a kind of amusement park venues. We hope to see you soon again maybe even in our Pisa restaurant.Best regards

When arriving in our holiday villa we decided to eat out. The house owner referred us to the osteria. Somewhat reluctantly patron Andrea accepted our reservation of 18 people the same night. The contrast with this reluctance couldn't have been bigger compared to the reception upon arrival. Malika treated us enthusiastically and warm. The food was great as well was the prosecco and wine.Andrea regularly checked up on us regularly. We had a wonderful night and most definitely will come back. Thank you Malika and Andrea!

There are many beautiful restaurants in Lucca but Osteria Baralla has been a favorite from my first trip to Lucca 5 years ago. The inside is beautifully decorated, but they also have very nice outdoor seating. If you want an authentic menu for the area, this is a good restaurant to experience. Service is very prompt and the food is always good! Some of the staff speak English, and the menu is in English and Italian. Usually when I go, I order the Testaroli con Pesto and Tiramisù for dessert. I've also had the Gnocchi Sorrentina and "Grigio da Toscana" (Pork Chop). I don't eat much meat so I tend to prefer the vegetarian options, but the pork was very good, and my parents would agree as we came back a second night just for that. The menu has a very good selection of authentic dishes from the area, and most of the menu is made in house! Pricing is reasonable for dinner considering the surroundings, but I can tell you every penny is worth the experience. They do charge a "coperto" which I believe is 2 euros, which they list as a table tax and bread charge.Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed!

We had lunch in this trattoria and loved it! It is clear that this business has a long history given the many black and white pictures on the wall. Their food is excellent, traditional Italian cuisine with great flavors. The waitress was very kind and prices very friendly! I will certainly visit this trattoria again when in Lucca.
