Reviews on European food in Viareggio, Province of Lucca, Italy. The main city of the northern Tuscan Riviera area of Versilia, Viareggio began as a medieval fishing village, then later gained renown for its shipbuilding. In the mid-19th century, the town was developed as a seaside resort, which it’s been ever since. Today, the city is loved for its long beaches, pine woods, great shopping and lively nightlife. It’s also home to the famous carnival of Viareggio, dating back to the late 19th century and one of Europe’s most important carnival events.

âOlive a Cenaâ is created through the collaboration of Daniel Oliva (Olive) and Carlos Arocena (cena = dinner), who became friends when they organised social nighlife events together in Versilia. Here they will concentrate their energy into a restaurant a
I went here as a treat because the meals are priced slightly higher than others in the area and I had heard good things. Unfortunately it was very average! I got a chickpea burger with âseasoned vegetablesâ and the whole thing tasted of absolutely nothing. I had to ask for salt and pepper and covered it in that just to have some sort of flavour. The only upside was that the staff were really friendly and they offer a free appetiser. Would not go back.

We went to Villa Grazia yesterday for dinner. We ordered a pizza capricciosa. The pizza resulted to be a disaster for us. The pizza was by far the worst we had on our two weeks trip to Italy. I even do not remember that I had a worse pizza before. There was water on top of the pizza!!! Guess that must come from frozen toppings or I do not know what else. There was nothing on the pizza that we liked to eat. So we paid and left to have our dinner somewhere else. Never again...

Everytime i fly to Italy I land in Pisa around 12.30pm giving me the opportunity to stop at Romano for lunch......what can i tell about this place....everything is perfect and the food extraordinary .By the way Romano is good friend of Sirio Maccioni owner of Le Cirque in NYC ( he told me about this place) .

'Il Piccolo Principe' gourmet restaurant, Two Star Michelin, offers an exquisitely refined cuisine that is enriched and set off by a well-stocked wine list that can be appreciated either inside the elegant and exclusive restaurant room or outside on the b
A perfect blend of international gourmet food and local specialties. I had the âEssentialâ menu, âterraâ, i.e., meat variant (5 courses, and as such much more than merely âessentialâ), which is preceded by an ensemble of four amuses. I took the wine arrangement (four glasses, mostly Italian, very nice). Everything looked great and the tasted equally good. Endearingly nice and kind service (my partner fell ill and had to leave our table; this was handled in an exemplary way). One suggestion: would it be an idea to differentiate between âmareâ and âterraâ also for the amuses (for those who do not like sea food)?

This is a lovely modern restaurant. Dinners only. Wonderful beef stakes. Big or huge. Smallest is a filet of 250 gram. I chose vegetable suffles (3 small beautifully presented) to start and cold meat cuts with rocket salad as a main course though it was from the starters menu. Excellent. My husband chose the onion soup that was rich plus the filet. We had a bottle of lovely red wine, suggested by the waitress, excellent for its price 26 euros. The cost of the meals for two was 100 euros, so this is not cheap.

We were booked in for dinner by a very discerning local and had a great evening. Lovely views of the yachts and a spectacular sunset after a stormy day. The pasta with king crab was DIVINE. Fabulous flavours perfectly matched and beautifully presented. My wife and I shared a turbot freshly caught, cooked and prepared. Delicious! The wine list is great and decent value. All the staff were charming and attentive. Thank you for a great evening. Dear 160dominicd, thank you very much for your feedback. Weâll be pleasured to have you as our guest again soon.

The Ristorante Ciccarelli Esplanade offers Professional and Welcoming Service, fresh and genuine dishes made with knowledge from the Kitchen Staff..
We used this restaurant as we were half board guests at the residence hotel. I was initially dubious about the food on half board relatively inexpensive holiday however I was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was standard buffet style but catered for all breakfast preferences as well as vegan and gluten free. It was possible to have special orders of omelette fried eggs etc. All this was served between 7 and 10 am by excellent attentive friendly staff. Evening meals were exceptional there was good choices of 3 courses on half board menu always a pasta, fish dish, meat option and vegetarian option. If in the unlikely event you did not like the daily menu it was possible to substitute your dish from the a la crate menu. I can honestly say that in 10 occasions I ate there neither of us were disappointed. The options to eat on the terrace outside or in air conditioned restaurant were available. As this hotel is open to the public it was often busy with a great atmosphere. The staff are all excellent really efficient even when busy guests get first class service at all times. I will give special thanks to Giulio who served our table most nights as well as having really good wine knowledge and recommendations he was friendly with excellent English and made us laugh !wishing him well in his law career. This restaurant is a must if you find yourself in Viareggio!!Dear 123ellibob, thank you very much for your kind feedback, Giulio and alla the staff will wait for you for another experience with us!!Best regardsGiuseppe

Typical old bistrò in Art Nouveau style.
We visited Pivot on 11 April. Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The staff made us feel very welcome with our daughter (who is only aged two) and they moved tables around to accommodate us as we hadn't booked ahead. They also took time to explain the menus and it was clear they were very passionate about their food. Fine dining for a mid-range price. I really hope to visit again one day.

Came to this place after spending some time at a nearby beach club. The staff was very friendly and our waiter spoke really good English. My friend and I both ordered the fish pasta with olives, capers, and tomatoes. Best pasta we have had in Italy. We also ordered a bottle of white wine that was super cheap and delicious. The restaurant gave us a free soup appetizer and a free fresh strawberries and cream dessert which were both also amazing. 10/10 recommend.
