Reviews on Italian food in Portoferraio, Province of Livorno, Italy. Portoferraio is a town and comune in the province of Livorno, on the edge of the eponymous harbour of the island of Elba. It is the island's largest city. Because of its terrain, many of its buildings are situated on the slopes of a tiny hill bordered on three sides by the sea.

Went for dinner based on recommendation. In a nice secluded spot at the tennis club. Nice outdoor patio and atmosphere. Menu did not have English translations so it was very difficult to decide what to get. With the waiter's help i ordered the "specialty of the house". It was pasta with crab. The pasta was good, but trying to crack the crab legs and shell to get the meat was incredibly messy and then little shell chunks got mixed in with the pasta. Dessert was great.

Too unfriendly to sit down and eat, and this was on a Tuesday night in May, I can't imagine what it'll be like in August. I can't say about the food though.

Our second year back to Elba and a return to Viste for yet another fantastic supper with wonderful views. Same waitress as last year and almost the same table! Great lobster pasta and wonderful mandarin sorbet to finish off! We will definitely return!

We arrived early 6.45pm as we'd not booked and got a great table on the terrace where we could sit and watch the sunset, simply stunning. The staff were really friendly and attentive the food was delicious, we managed to get through 3 courses 2 glasses of house wine, 1 bottle of beer which was â¬75. The pasta dishes were really tasty but the calamari and mussels we had were amazing, huge portions and really fresh. The chocolate soufle desert was gorgeous. The restaurant is tucked away near Viticcio beach and i would definitely go back. Amazing little place with such a great service.

Typical steakhouse food. I'm from Texas so I'm a little more critical but the meat was cooked well done and the potatoes and grilled veggies were good. I ordered the meat sampler and there was a wiener as one of the meats. I tasted it and it tasted like a generic brand wiener. I guess the German tourist are into this??? Skip the wiener and sausages and get the steaks and chicken. The owner only speaks Italian but one waitress spoke 4 languages.

Menu was only in Italian, waitress struggled to translate all the dishes. Food was very bland and the service was very slow. There were not many customers so would have thought they would have been more attentive. The view is nice but, so that's why I give them 2 starts.Die Bewertung muss konstruktiv sein, was hast du gegessen? Wenn er es besser erklärte, gab er uns die Gelegenheit, uns zu verbessern. Located next door to the Teatro dei Vigilanti in the old town of Portoferraio, our terrace offers magnificent views over the town and harbour. Our menu offers fresh fish prepared daily in traditional Elban recipes. A wide selection of home-made desserts a
Really enjoyed an authentic meal. Seafood starter magnificent the pulpo was delicious as were the anchovies. I have never tasted nicer ravioli with spinach and ricotta.Thank you

Had dinner w. family of four and went there based on various recommendations. Based on suggestion from one of the owners chose the 7 course tasting menu. Dishes all based on local fish and vegetables/herbs sourced from Elba. Interestingly the flavors were non-typical Italian (no tomato, basil, garlic, etc.) and very well balanced. Sauces, extracts and cremes very delicate and intense taste. Food was paired w. White wines from Elba, Suvereto (Vermentino) and (Malvasia) and Aleotico from Elba (sweet red). Very knowledgable and enthusiastic owner who really knows his wines. Restaurants has opened just three years ago and already at the top of restaurant scene in Portoferraio. On to even greater achievements without any doubt. Highly recommended!
