We got there on a Wednesday night closer to 10 pm. We were welcomed by the chef/owner, Dani. We ordered a bottle of a local winery, and Dani provided a small plate with roasted veggies, while we waited for our dinner. My husband ordered the setas (mushrooms), and I ordered the mussels. Both plates were not only delicious, but also different from all traditional plates offer everywhere else locally. Then he presented us with a "parilla" , an assortment of meats ( chicken, veal, and beef). The meats were cooked to perfection, and the smoke flavor from the real wood fire grill was out of this world! For dessert, I had the homemade oanacota, and my husband had the vanilla mouse. These dessert belong to a 5 stars restaurant. If you are looking for something different and high quality, and also reasonable, this is the place to go!

Cave in and old building in old City from Ponferrada, close to the castle and to the main old church. In the place it is possible to enjoy just house made spicy potatoes "patatas bravas", mussels in hot sauce and calamari. All with standard wines from the region.

A classic ponferrada with a traditional and high quality cuisine. A nice gastronomic experience with lots of variety in a cozy place with a lot of identity.
Itâs difficult to fault a local Spanish bar in a large town, which serves you three very reasonable courses of local homemade food with bread, water and a bottle of wine for a total bill of 22euros (for two people).Yes it was a tiny bit rushed and the main course arrived just as one of us was finishing our starter.Yes itâs a very locals based bar and English is only just catered for, but we are the foreigners (we donât learn Spanish/French/Italian etc to serve our customers in England!). They had a written translation of the menu del dia choices and that was fine. But whatever you say - food was good, wine was good, staff were friendly and the atmosphere and ambience was authentic. Iâd happily recommend it.

This restaurant deserves to be # 1. We didnât have a reservation and couldnât sit outside in the plaza but instead sat inside of the restaurant. It was a Saturday night though so one canât fault being accommodated this way. The service was tops, friendly, efficient and professional. The wine list is extensive allowing you to choose something to your liking and budget. We had a bottle of Losada Bierzo mencia. The food was delicious and creative. To start We shared a vegetable crepe and thinly sliced aubergine with tomato and Parmesan - both were delicious and it is hard to rate the best of the two. Next, we shared a couple of fish dishes, the salmon with apple sauce and crispy patatas and the hake, or merzula with a seafood sauce - yum to both. We finished with the cheese cake and a coffee. This all came to EUR53 as the food was considered as menu del dia plus extra for the wine and coffee. FANTASTIC.

The restaurant is housed in a large stone house, next to the town's church. Classy decoration, excellent service, and delicious food. And, remarkable, we paid â¬17.50 per person, which is nearly the same you pay for a menu in less deserving places. I highly recommend it, and will certainly go back. All was very good, but desserts were heavenly.Try coffee custard with chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream with caramelized chestnuts. Unbelievable.

Went with Trip Advispr recommendations. Hamburgers and modern local fusion dishes. They opened the upstairs restaurant for the crazy English couple that wanted to eat before 21.30! Great food and main dishes can be ordered as tapas to share. Four was more than enough, washed down with a chilled local red. Diana our waitress didn't speak English, but didn't matter - great, friendly, fun service. Well worth the visit.
