If you have been in any typical Irish 3* star hotel bar in the last 20 years, then you may as well been in the Headfort Lounge. You know exactly what to expect: the food, the service, the atmosphere, the decor...it's all very "big Mac"ish. There is nothing wrong with it and it has mass appeal, but it's just uninspiring and unexciting. Don't get me wrong, in terms of what you pay there is nothing wrong with it. If you're looking for a good "feed" and that typical "beef or salmon" type menu, or somewhere to bring the in-laws for Sunday lunch, you won't fault it. It's also ideal for that family get together like a Communion or Christening. It's just not the sort of place you would go for a special occasion or a good meal out.

First impressions, lovely dining room, candlelit but still bright enough and lots of atmosphere, food really fresh, beautifully presented and very very tasty, staff universally interested in looking after you and extremely pleasant. Will definitely be going here again.

Treated my sister for her birthday and took my wife along with us. We had Chicken Maryland, Salmon steak, Mushroom omelet and one rice pudding desert. This was washed down by a glass of wine, a pint of Guinness and 2 coffees. The bill came to â¬60 which was very reasonable for what we had. The meal was really good with good size portions. Service was a tad slow as there was only one male tending the whole lounge. He did his best to keep the whole show going but needed a dig out to make the service slick. We will return!

Shirleys Gastro Pub is world famous for its great food and of course 'The Riordans' TV show. We have recently fitted a new kitchen and we are producing excellent good old fashioned pub grub. Come in and and see for yourself!
We enjoyed our first meal in Ireland at Shirley's Pub along with my first Guinness. The cheeseburger was huge, no - really huge - and tasty along with the chips (fries) and their homemade smoked ketchup, a must try. The owner, Chris, was more than you would expect. He spent a good amount of time at our table speaking to Tracy and I about anything we brought up. We are glad we stopped in.Hi Rick. Thanks again for coming to visit us, and we are all very grateful for your lovely review. I'd be happy to send over the recipe for the ketchup. We are on fb too!! Take care and hopefully see you back soon. Chris

A classic Irish pub in the heart of Boyne Valley Co.Meath. Open 7 days. We operate as a part of the Headfort Arms Hotel. Serving drinks with a late bar Thursday to Sunday and full bar menu available Mon-Fri 4pm-9.30 and Sat&Sun 12 Noon-9.30. Great bar for
This is a BAR. Security a disaster, full of underage kids, running late but no late licences. Security do not even patrol the place. Avoid like the plague, unless you wish to be hit by flying glass debris from the underage kids. Gents toilet had broken glass on the floor, with young girls trying to get in. Gents also had a male attendant who was upto no good. Then we have the â¬10 admission fee with bands/djs that are rubbish with excessive noise levels. Tables are minimal, and the place has way too many people in it, way beyond its legal limits. Nobody checks the numbers in/out. A bar with a major problem waiting to happen and close it down. One of the only places I have been in my life that I am going to ensure it does not stay the way it is for 2019 and thats a promise.

Out for a drive on a nice sunny day and popped in for Lunch . The Lunch Menu was very Basic with few options so as someone who likes say Roast Beef or Lamb etc. this not an option on that particular day ,so had to take it or leave it so to speak. staff (2) were business like and efficient.

A traditional Irish Pub offering superb food in a warm and cosy environment characterised by our stone walls and open fire. Live Music Fri & Sat 9.30pm
We found this place by accident and having seen the big sign at the roadside, we decided to give it a try.Upon entering the place I was impressed by the lovely interior deco and we were greeted by a friendly waitress. She was very helpful in taking our orders and serving us throughout, making sure we were fine.We ordered the soup which was served with the best brown bread I've tasted (and this is not because we were hungry!) and the cottage pie came in a good serving size. I absolutely love that they serve steamed vegetables instead of fries which was healthier option. My bf was driving so he couldn't really drink, so it was nice that they have alcohol free beer too.I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone!
