Owner & Manager Russell Wilde & Head Chef David O'Byrne breathe new life into the old Gigs Place premises in Portobello, offering contemporary cooking in a warm & casual dining environment.
Five out of five for this consistently excellent restaurant. Staff and food get top marks. The menu changes weekly so thereâs always something new to try. Last night I enjoyed the duck croquettes with liver pate and beetroot as my starter and an incredible pork main that had pork three ways ( belly / cheek and stuffed steak) accompanied by fondant potato and a sweet onion tatin, parsnip , mustard and cavalo nero. All delicious and beautifully presented. Menu works for all diners - thereâs always a soup/ meat / fish / veg dish on the menu & while the plates are creative thereâs a comforting approach to food here. The restaurant serves beautifully presented food but doesnât shy away from the fact that diners like good steak, chips or burger and the genius is that they make both available on the menu. Tip : Great staff, super with allergies. book ahead as it gets busy- if you have a group of 4 ask for the window booth.Super super super !Wow Deirdre, Thoroughly enjoyed reading (and re-reading) your thoughtful and flattering review, and thank you for taking the time to post. We are very fortunate to have had our exceptional Head Chef David OâByrne running the kitchen since we opened back in Dec â15, hence the consistently high standard. (Recently confirmed by the retention of our Michelin Bib.Happy days!).Not to mention everyone else, some of the hardest working and loveliest staff Iâve ever had the pleasure to work with. We look forward to taking care of you again soon, Russell @ Richmond

Locks at One Windsor Terrace is a new restaurant along the spectacular setting of the canal in Portobello, Dublin 8. The menu is modern Irish with a focus on top quality food at an affordable price.
First to be seated in this restaurant service was terrible starters ok but main course veg and potatoes came to the table eventually as we were just finished. Hate to see what they do when itâs busy. Dessert took ages to come out the chef was too busy eating the strawberry must have ate too many as the strawberry came out wafer thin so we got one each on top of meringue. Wonât be back lovely setting thatâs all I can say. Pity

Very nice, bright, crisp restaurant. Service is friendly and efficient. We tried the 2 course set menu, which is very good value, â¬24.50 each. The main courses that we would recommend are, the 8 oz rib eye steak( there's a â¬7 supplement,), and the chicken with shiitake mushrooms. For dessert we tried the ice cream which was nice and the chocolate fondant which was lovely. The wine we had was French and was called Piquepoule,it was very fresh and pleasant.Hello Ciaran M,Thank you for the lovely review. We are delighted to hear that you found everything to your liking and we hope to welcome you back soon!Kind regards,Union8

We went for lunch and although the choice is limited the food that was produced was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was perfect. Overall I would recommend Dax for any occasion.
