The Grasshopper Inn is located in the middle of Clonee Village and a favourite watering hole and refuelling point (i.e. pub grub). We visited coming up to the Christmas holiday period and enjoyed roast duck with crispy potatoes and gravy, stuffed with festive spices and oranges in the stuffing, which made a great change to turkey â memorable. In addition to the excellent Carvery, there is also Bar food. This is an institution in Clonee, which celebrated 21 years recently - the restaurant has grown a lot and aims to use local produce. There is live music on weekends but we prefer a quiet pint of Guinness and a chat, in the large Beer Garden and then dining in the patio area. We thought prices were good value and we are hoping to return next year.

We were here as a party of 8. Reasoable menu and while we were waiting for starters, were served with delicious bread & butter. As I said we were 8, so I am only going to mention what I ate. Had the patéfor starters. This was simply delicious. For mains I went for the pork, which was very disappointing. Too dry altogether for my liking. Also served on an enormous plate. I also asked for potatoe chips, but these are extra. Why oh why do they give the vegatbles as a part of the mains, but charge for any potatoe? Bit underhanded I think. Anyhow I had the warm brownie for dessert. Again this was simply delicious. And all topped off with an americano, which I found not very appealing. One of my Party had a salad ( I think Goat's cheese) for starter and this was served on an enormous plate - cannot understand why - see attached photo. As I said above I was most diapppointed with my mains, but my Wife had the rib eye ( â¬5.00 supplement ) & She said it was delicious - it certainly looked most appealing. Maybe I just picked the wrong food for mains.Overall cost was around â¬350.00, which was very reasonable considering 3 bottles of wine were also had, and the â¬5 steak supplement. One thing I wasn't impressed with was when I went to pay the bill, the cashier stressed that the charge did not include service charge. What a turn off. Will we return? I think it certainly does deserve another shot, but I won't be opting for the pork, thats for sure.

With so many cafes and restaurants offering more and more vegan friendly options it is a pity that the lovely food company is not more inclusive. I was a loyal customer and as a local resident enjoyed visiting the cafe regularly. However since deciding to follow a plant based diet 2 years ago I have found no options that suit me here. In the last few years there has been no changes in the menu. My mum once asked if there was any dairy free treats available and the lady who I believe is the manager replied "dairy free is taste free". I was delighted a few months back to see the Lovely Food company was offering oat milk (instead of just regular soy milk). However recently my sister requested oat milk and the same manager said "the oat milk wasn't working for us". I find this offensive and unfair to loyal customers. To suggest that you cannot make plant based treats tasty (when there are amazing options available in Dublin now) and take oat milk off the menu when it was the reason we started returning to the cafe. There also isn't one breakfast, lunch or dinner option on the menu despite being labelled as 'vegan friendly' on trip advisor. I hope the lovely food company will become more inclusive, kinder to customers and see that they need to move with the changes in society and provide choice.

2 of us shared cheese plate instead of dessert. Strangest combination- slices of processed cheddar and one soft cheese with a dusting of ...icing sugar! A lot of ingredients appear to be shop bought including the duck spring rolls and prawns. Service is excellent. Wine list is ok but pricey once you go away from the basic stuff. Great glasses of Guinness, expertly pulled.

Joels is the ultimate family restaurant. Conveniently located on the Naas road with plenty of free parking. Joelâs menu is full of mouth-watering dishes to suit everyoneâs taste. We offer a full bar and wine menu along with specialty coffees.
I had the pleasure of dining in Joel's restaurant yesterday. We were made very welcome by the general manager and reception staff. We had a table booked and were seated immediately, there were six of us. One of the things I like about Joel's is that everyones food arrives at the same time. Food was cooked to perfection and the dessert are to die for.
