More of a take away place (only two tables for eating inside), this wood-fired pizzeria is very inexpensive and good for what it is. (Note: It was VERY hot inside, with no a/c and a blazing open oven.) The dough was nice, flavorful, crisp, with good char. The sauce to cheese ratio seemed off (too much cheese), and the tomato sauce not all that flavorful. Perhaps a reflection of its primary mission of take-away, the pizzas were cut, which leads to soggy middles. Most disappointing was the arancini de riso, which had gummy, over-cooked rice yet cheese in the center that wasn't melted. The wine was, unfortunately, not local (table wine from Piedmonte), but was adequate. Service was good and friendly. Cost is low, with two pizzas (diavola and sausage), one arancini, and one bottle of wine costing â¬20. This may be good for the area, but it is just average for wood-fired pizza in general.

Luogo suggestivo e di gran guasto:due sale sotto magnifiche volte di pietra. Cena a base di pesce. Ottimi gli antipasti, buoni gli spaghetti con le alici. Dolci fatti in casa eccellenti. Servizio impeccabile, prezzi equi.

We ate twice here recently and it was very good on both occasions. The pasta was very light and well made and the pizzas were made using quality, fresh ingredients. (They also do takeaway). The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly and spoke a little English

We arrived at an awkward time, far too early for dinner and the kitchen was just warming up. However, the server was most gracious and said that he would do what he could to get us something to eat. I ordered a chicken caesar salad with a glass of white wine and my husband had a very large and incredibly tasty caprese salad and a beer. The presentation was impressive, considering the chef was likely prepping other dishes for the evening. I recommend this restaurant highly not only for the great customer service attitude, but for the tasty food. I'd been told by the person who'd suggested we eat there that the food is all fantastic. So, we shall return to Puglia and will have dinner there next time.Thank you very much! See you are soon.

Matisse is a local restaurant in Uggiano, a relatively sleepy village just outside Otranto. We rated Matisse first for setting and ambience, first for food standard and choice and first for services and fair price. It is definitely worth the time to visit for dinner, would go back in a heart beat.

I come here often for my business trip in Salento !!! The food is always perfect and the menu change all the times !!! Cool people always around ... And is adorable in summer time getting a table outside ....Perfect a 5 star 's restaurant !!!!
