Reviews on Mediterranean food in Gaeta, Province of Latina, Italy. Set between Rome and Naples amid the so-called Ulysses Riviera, gorgeous Gaeta overlooks the beautiful Tyrrhenian Sea. Its history as a resort dates back to Imperial Rome. Nearby sites include the first-century BC mausoleum of general Lucius Munatius Plancus. Its old town is mostly medieval, showcased by narrow alleys, the massive 13th-century castle and the 12th-century Cathedral of Assunta e Sant'Erasmo. For relaxing, lovely and central Serapo Beach is a favored locale.

Cantina di Ciccillo is a typical italian "enoteca" in the medieval part of Gaeta. Intriguing and full of history, the cantina offers a selection of high quality wines that can be tasted with traditional dishes (tiella, cured meats, italian cheese, etc.).
The outside alone could have been reason enough to stop. Down a little cobble-stoned alleyway, with quaint outdoor seating, on a beautiful August night. The food was incredible, all local and fresh specialties. The staff was helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

This was an experience we wanna have on this vacation. The staff so friendly and authentic. The food traditional, fresh and the potions are more then big. We chose a wine out of the location, which was recommended from the server and it was the best recommendation for this evening. We will definitely come back.

Well, I went there only because a friend suggested it to me. The lack of any sort of atmosphere would suggest great food but in reality the quality is below the average considering the location! Friendly service but I'm afraid I'll never return there.

A unique place in the heart of the medieval town of Gaeta, dating back to the end of '800 and previously home to a historic macelle ria of which are still visible the original period tiles on the walls, flooring and paving vaulted ceilings. The redesign o

Top spot in the old town of gaeta. Excellent fresh fish restaurant cooked on charcoal grills very basic and traditional but all the better for that. Lovely service. Wine only â¬9 and perfect. Was recommended by italian in Naples and so glad we followed the advice. Presume it is low on trip advisor scores as undiscovered. Hopefully will return next year and find it unchanged and just as welcoming.

Both my husband and I had steak here and it was absolutely delicious, cooked absolutely perfectly and served with beautiful roast potatoes - a mouth watering meal at â¬15! Absolute bargain and amazing. I had the tiramisu to finish and it was perfect.Highly recommend this restaurant especially if you enjoy steak.

Tielle are a specialty of Gaeta and this is definitely a great place to have them. I especially liked those with calamari and those with zucchine. There is no inside seating, just a couple of benches outside the entrance. Grab a tiella to take away, eat it by the sea, then come back for another! Cheap and excellent value.
