We went to this restaurantfor lunch as it was the only restaurant we could find from L'aguila on our way to Teramo. The place was full of locals which is always a good sign. We took pasta, the owner himself served the dish for us. The food was good, made from fresh ingredients. Contorni was a bit disappointing. But the big antipasto plates we saw most of the locals to eat looked just fantastic. Service was a bit slow, but that was understandable as the place was almost full.

Our hosts at the University organised a set dinner for our rather large group at this quaint restaurant. It was a meal of epic proportions, with one delicious dish after another, accompanied by superb local wine, and served with gusto by the owner and his assistant, who described every dish with relish and took care that no-one was left waiting. The antipasti were superb; the lentils cooked to perfection, as was the pasta with basil and tomatos; the veal was exquisite, and the desserts finger-licking good. It was clear that the owner took great pride in his establishment and really wanted everyone to like and enjoy their dishes, made with the freshest of ingredients. It was a memorable and surprisingly inexpensive meal.

Cucina aquilana con utilizzo dei prodotti tipici del territorio.
First let me point out that the restaurant is no longer Piazza del Palazzo as it collapsed in the 2009 earthquake. It is now located via Lussemburgo, 38 in l'Aquila, zona Pettino. The location is not so nice anymore but the atmosphere of the restaurant makes up for it!But it is the same owner, same cook same everything. The food is formidable... it is fresh, light, a mix of mediterranean flavors... it really is a pleasure to eat there, from antipasto to dessert!Their menu is week dependent, but there is always a choice between 4 or 5 dishes. The restaurant is very well made, very warm and familial, very nicely decorated, a very nice ambiance whether you're in 2 or in 10. The only problem we found was the waiting time, we didn't take a primo (as the portions are really big) but just antipasto and secondo and we had to wait 30min between antipasto and secondo. On the other hand, the secondo was so good that it was worth the wait. They have very good wine but the young waitress was incapable of advising us... good thing we knew what to take.Another plus for this restaurant, they are dog friendly!! So you can bring your little companion with you and he will be very welcome. Prices are acceptable not too expensive but not cheap. We paid 58 euros for 2 people with antipasto and secondo and including a 13euros bottle of wine. All in all, if you want to be sure to have a nice evening, then this is definitely a place to go

The restaurant is located right next to the Fontana delle 99 Cannelle. We were treated to the Aquilana Tasting menu, which consisted of a sample of 14 different appetizer, main course, and dessert items. What a wonderful feast ! The Lonzino served with truffle olive oil and sliced parmesan cheese was a special favorite of the group.

For us, being the only non Italians in the room at both lunch and dinner was a treat. We started with a little "light" lunch only to find even the bruschetta would have been enough for one to eat. The bruschetta was so tomato fresh and lightly herb seasoned that it may have been one of the best I've had. The calzone was HUGE (wish I had a place to take a to go box), with nicely melting cheese, very fresh bread crust and just melt in your mouth. (I ate it all!).By dinner we had meet Emmanuel, the grandson who speaks English and he recommended Nonna's (grandma's) gnocchi, which he had helped to roll out that day. I was pleased when it was not a huge portion, but just right and just nicely sauced (olive oil and herbs I think, no tomato sauce). The service, everything we ate and the family atmosphere here was awesome!

I can't fault this restaurant. Everything was perfect. The host was very friendly, very knowledgeable about food and wine, the food was of a very high standard and very good value for money. I would definitely go back and recommend it very highly. It's also just a 5 minute walk from the main street in the centro storico.
