It is located in the Valle Peligna, a plateau once occupied by a lake that disappeared in prehistoric times. In the ancient era, it was one of the most important cities of the Paeligni and is known for being the native town of Ovid of whom there is a bronze statue in the Piazza XX Settembre, located on the town's main road which is named after him.

This is a great bar in the centre of Sulmona. The owners are very friendly and enthusiastic about their beers. Delirium Tremens, Delirium Nocturnum, Brewdog's Punk IPA amongst the draft beers and a good range of bottled beers. We didn't eat properly but the appetisers/aperitivo were good and we were made to feel very welcome despite speaking no Italian.

Friendly welcome and nice simple fuselli with asparagus and pancetta which I thought would be good because it's in season - and it was Small glass of wine (nice but not special ) made this a very pleasant lunch stop - slightly surprised there were so few others there

Sono una motociclista e oggi dopo un bel giro sulle montagne abruzzesi decido di fermarmi a Sulmona per vedere questa bella cittadina ma purtroppo per me ho avuto subito necessità di un bagno e poi, magari, avrei preso un caffè o un the caldo. Ma la signora non è stata molto cortese facendomi notare che prima dovevo ordinare per andare al bagno. Sono rimasta un po' disorientata visto che il bisogno era incombente così la signora mi ha inviato ad usare il bagno comunale. Morale della favola: la signora ha perso una cliente lasciandomi l'amaro in bocca per questa a dir poco sgarbata accoglienza.
