When approaching this place on the edge of the village first impression is of an ugly 1960s building waiting to be demolished. The picture is complete with several dogs barking through the gloom. The restaurant inside looks cavernous when few folk are in and nondescript. Then comes the food. This place does fantastic pizza. It's not haute cuisine but for place to take a hungry group it can't be beaten. Careful with too many starters - extremely generous and all fresh. You will struggle to spend more than £10 a head including very drinkable montepulciano at â¬5 a bottle. Goes to show that a place which relies on local custom rather than tourists can be outstanding for its type. And service to match.

We visited the lovely town on the way to Barrea (another lovely location). It is a small restaurant that was totally empty when we entered it on a Saturday for lunch --later another two guests arrived. I am always wary of empty restaurant and started to worry, but the friendliness of the service put us immediately in a good mood. We have two small children and immediately offered to bring some toys and pencils for them. Then the food: the list in quite standard for the region, but it has excellent and also innovative ingredients. Thus traditional dishes that you can eat anywhere become truly exceptional! the 'antipasto' and the 'primi' are a collection of delicacies, portions are generous. We had the house wine, which was extremely inexpensive (I believe around 5 euros for half a litre!) and perfectly drinkable. If I have to find a problem it is the fact that we changed our itinerary and came back to Pettorano just to discover that in July they are for lunch only during the weekend.

Locale a conduzione familiare situato nel centro storico di Rocca Pia. Cucina semplice basata prevalentemente su ingredienti locali. La sala da pranzo situata al piano superiore non ha una grande capienza perciò è consigliata la prenotazione. Purtroppo no
We always have dinner here anytime we visit. Fresh and homemade food served with a smile and a friendly chat.

In the heart of the ancient Trasmondi Palace is borning AnimA ! A small lovely modern restaurant where you will find the best of traditional products worked with professionalism by our chef. We combine the high quality of territorial raw material with mod
This restaurant is new but a real find for the discerning tourist in Southern Italy. It isn't all about how it tastes and traditional 'mama's kitchen'. This restaurant aspires to be different and executes beautifully. The ambient is wonderful, emphasizing the old stone building but keeping the lighting low and not making the commonplace mistake here of neon kitchen lighting. The two young men who have teamed up here are clearly trained and the presentation is much more sophisticated than I have come to expect in these parts. The flavours are subtle and delightful, the meat super tender and the prices though higher than the local pizzeria are still extremely reasonable! A break from the mould here and a worthwhile one! Much success wished to this little gem as I want to come back! Photos attached!

This small restaurant in the middle of Anversa was very good indeed. Service was prompt and efficient, and bread and water was provided promptly. Our gnocchi with a creamy sauce was delicately infused with basil and was very filling and tasty. The house wine was very reasonable and we shared an excellent dessert. We would definitely return to this restaurant if we find ourselves in Anversa again. It was also open that lunchtime which was worth remembering.

We visit Scanno very often, because here born father of my boyfriend. I can say that this place is not only beautiful because of architecture and nature, pure water from the mountains and clean air, also local food and products are quality and tasty! In this restaurant we go regularly. Pizza here more than delicious, starters with local fresh cold cuts and cheese, of course all kinds of pasta, meat and WINE. Special mention for broccoletti, which flowers full of antioxidants. All home made bread included. What else. Service is very professional and you can be sure that in this atmosphere you will enjoy the real taste of Abruzzo.

We stumbled on this restaurant for lunch attracted by the number of cars parked outside. The owner was very patient with our little Italian and suggested the plate of the day, lovely sausage and vegetable pasta. We were the only non locals. It was a perfect experience and the dining room had lovely views to the mountains we were driving through. After dessert 3 homemade liquor store appeared for us to try! One of our best experiences.

On the recommendation of our innkeeper, we tried La Baita for dinner one night. The pizza was terrific and the house wine was delicious. Service was so-so, but it got busy shortly after we arrived And we had wine, so we were ok with that.

One of my favourite restaurants in Scanno has to be "La Porta". In terms of quality-price, it is Top Notch! I had the best "Agnello sulla Grillia", Lamb on the Grill,Zucchini Risotto,Scamorza allo Speck, Quadrucci con lenticchie, Local mountain mushrooms, even their potatoes are home grown from their own "Orto". I highly recomment this family run restaurant, great food, friendly service and very fairly priced! Buon Appetito!
