We visited Iraeta (located in the Gross region of San Sebastián) on a Thursday night and managed to get a table outside. They serve made to order pintxos but are best know for their steak, tomatoes and peppers, which we had and all were amazing. We are regular visitors to bar Nestor (closed for vacations during or trip) and between the the four of us there was a split discussion and on which was best. My advice try them both! The bill came to â¬90 for the four of us which included 4/5 drinks each and the steak peppers and tomatoes.

The TRACAMUNDANA is a restaurant and pintxos bar. Traditional basque cuisine with avant garde and fusion accents. Quality and well presented dishes with a reasonable price.
We dined at Tracamundana on a Friday night, on arrival the front bar had live music. The restaurant is towards the rear but part of the area has tables for bar diners. The menu is typically Basque but does feature the elusive vegetables in the form of a rather good plate of grilled mixed vegetables. Recomended as a shared starter or to accompany what will be a meat or fish dominated main course. Crusty white bread comes with a modest pool of reasonable quality olive oil. There is a good selection of good quality wines by the glass as they use a special device that maintains the cork seal on the bottle but allows the wine out through a hollow needle. The octopus leg starter was one of the best I have had (I am working on having had all 8 at some time). It was accompanied by another rare Basque restaurant item, nicely roasted and salted baby potatoes. My wife's hake was fairly standard for the region. My boned sucking pig was good, tender pink meat, not too dry or fatty. Accompanied by two pieces of sweet potato. Overall, we felt that the food, whilst good, was below what we would have expected in San Sebastian. Maybe a higher grade restaurant for really good food is needed. Still, change (just) from â¬100 for two.

One of the best fish I've ever had. Great family owned restaurant with wonderful local cuisine and the most friendly of staff. The owners are dedicated to their craft and it shows in their food and love for their work. Don't come to San Sebastián without visiting this wonderful place. Good morning. Thanks for sharing your review. As you've said, we really love our job. And the best part of it is seeing people enjoy with our food. We are glad you felt so comfortable and you liked our food so much.It would be great to see you again soon. Thank you very much.

A group of us had a selection of starters, tuna, mushrooms and octopus. The tuna was cubed and seared, served as a pile with onions and tomato. Fresh and good. The mushrooms were pretty but tasted ok. The octopus was not tender, tough to cut but flavoursome. Then followed a great dish of squid in caramelised onion. Wholesome and tasty but again lacked the âje ne sais quoiâ. Some had the cod throat in basque gelatinous sauce which was pronounced very good. That dish is a matter of personal taste. Service varied, mostly staff seemed grim. Smiles dont cost much, who knows...Thank you for your opinion.
