Our family was traveling from San Sebastián to Bilbao and stopped in Ondarroa hoping to find lunch. Although Surtagi is not that impressive from the street, the upstairs dining room is lovely. The waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable, and the meal of fresh seafood was Superb.

Nice hotel, with welcoming personnel. Could take early morning breakfast at 6.30, which is useful for the early camino birds. The room was comfortable. Could help a bigger shower towel. Perfect stay for the peregrinos who are willing to stay in a hotel. Thank you!

Where to eat Barbecue food in Camp De Mar: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Local with ample room for 70 people with attractive tapas bar and private terrace with seating for about 80 people a day menu, special menu, pilgrim menu and specialty meats and grilled fish
We found the tratoria, only a short walk from the town square. Upon arrival we were informed of the daily menu, which was either fish or meat. We chose a fish and tomato salad, a bottle of white whine and for main course the fish. Both the food and wine quality were great. What came as an unpleasant surprise was that the fish (locally caught) was 65 euro by itself, quite expensive for a local produce. You can say this was our own fault, after all we didn't ask for the price beforehand, but still I believe you may expect more reasonable prices for local produce. Service was good though (we speak Spanish and the owner was friendly and adequate) and the food was nice, it's just the price that made the experience a bit bittersweet

I could write this review in Spanish, but I wanted to give provide an English review since this restusrant doesn't have any. Staying outside of Deba, we went into town to look for somewhere to eat. We walked the entire (very small) downtown area and found few choices with little of gastronomic interest. We finally settled on Calbetón. We decided to eat in the restaurant area (comedor) which is in a separate room beyond the bar and kitchen. It was small, initimate, and beautifully decorated. As it was a Tuesday evening, we had the place all to ourselves for most of our meal. I ordered hake (similar to cod) covered with tiny squid & mushrooms in a light butter sauce @ 16⬠-- outstanding! My husband had a sirloin steak served with a delicious reduction sauce & grilled peppers @ 15â¬. We each had a glass of a local Crianza wine. To finish off our meal, my husband had espresso & I had flan served with strawberry gelato. The total with tax was â¬48 -- very reasonable for such a quality meal served by a gracious host in an inviting atmosphere.

Would have given zero stars if I could. Were there in July 2018 at 7:30 pm at the height of the tourist season: 60% of the fish on the a la carte menu was not available, had octopus that was decent, but twice as expensive as the same dish of the same quality in this region. My wife had fixed menu (which the chef did not offer, we had to ask for it additionally): 3 out of 4 fish choices were not available. Tuna in the salad was about school cafeteria quality, the worst salad of that kind that we ever had, and we had tens of those in the North of Spain. The only available fish was named dorada in the menu, but had nothing to do with actual dorada which is a tasty fish, instead it was a thick God know which species filet that was previously frozen and tasted like cardboard. No amount of friendliness from the chef can compensate for bad food, unfortunately.

Since it opened in the 19th century, Salegi Restaurant has been run by the same family, carrying out a fantastic service. A wide variety of dishes are included in the menu, achieving the right balance and harmony between Granny Floraâs traditional recipes
The food is excellent, and the service too. The chuleton is delicious, also the jamón ibérico and the fish. Markel F good morning and thank you for your opinionWe are happy to meet you and help you improve. We will be happy to greet you in future visits.Greetings from the Salegi Jatetxea team.

We had a very nice dining experience washed down with some excellent txotz, served straight from the barrels. Our chuleton de buey for two was served rare, but our friends' steaks were overdone, unfortunately. It is a quaint restaurant, with long tables and benches. The salads were very good. Portions were generous. It is clearly a favourite place with the locals.

We felt so luck to stumble across this restaurant. It is an amazing find. Set in an idyllic dell set back from the stunning coastal path, it serves authentic Basque food with a friendly local welcome. We arrived at 2pm on a Sunday, it was incredibly busy. There was not a table available in the main restaurant until after 4pm (book ahead!), but the waiter kindly let us eat at a table by the entrance. He served us croquettes, and a huge tuna salad. This would have been enough, but he brought amazing rapa (on the menu 'plaice' in English, but perhaps monkfish), it was served on a bed of garlic sautéed potatoes and was delicious. We had a couple of beers, and watched the Spanish families and walkers come and go. The bill was pretty reasonable, and we felt very grateful to the waiter for making space for us. Afterwards, we took the clearly sign-posted walking route to the sea, and took in the amazing views. Seek out this restaurant for great local food.Thank you very much for the visit and for the opinion, eskerrik asko
