We visited this restaurant at lunchtime and found the dining area quite cosy and atmospheric with attentive service. Our starters were really nice (bit hard to describe though) but when it came to the mains my enormous portion of hake (accompanied by a miniscule amount of buttered boiled potato) became rather tedious to eat long before I finished it. We asked for a glass of white wine each: it was understood in bringing us a bottle that we would pay for what we consumed but, finding the local white wine delicious, polished it off anyway.I would echo what others have said about value for money: it was actually the most expensive meal we had during a ten day trip to this region.

Randomly stumbled on this gem for a lunch time stop off ont' Camino del Nortes. Everything from the duck to the octopus to even the salad coffee and bread was genuinely top quality (and I'm a fussy bugger normally). Add to that the service was warm welcoming and efficient. Really made our day and set us up for the next stage of the walk.

Family business,50 years open, renovated in 2017. Local products, grilled fish, special menu, and large assortment of tipical pintxos in the bar.
Three course meal (18 e) was delicious. Four of us got to share fish cake, black squid rice, turbot, hake grilled anchovies, cheese with quince jelly sheep milk in a jar and a traditional dessert. The restaurant does not take reservations during the week so we had to wait about 1/2 hour. Once seated, service was fast and very welcoming. Definitely would return.

Delicious food and great service with helpful advice from the waitress about portion size which stopped us over ordering! Views over the marina and Zumaia which looked attractive with all the lights after dark.Tables were perhaps a little close together but overall a very enjoyable dinner.

We went to Txopa for dinner and had some great dishes. The people working there were very friendly, made recommendations on wine and food and spoke excellent English. We had pintxos and also some noodles and a nice dessert, too. Would definitely recommend!! Thank you very much

Fantastic! Very good balance between quality and price! We were on holiday in Zumaia and we went there for a dinner, we enjoyed it a lot.We taste meat dishes and fish, both very good and very well prepared. Tasty, not to much spiced! The service was also very good, the waitress was very kind and proactive. The location is not fashionable, but - trust me - it is the less important thing while you are eating very, very, very good!

We had high expectations for the seafood restaurant based on TripAdvisor. The elderly hostess greeted us and took our jackets. A waiter/salesman came and explained the restaurant menu to us, pointing out several types of fish that they were out of. Once he took the order we never saw him again. The waiter was followed by an individual who helped us select our wine - we never saw him either. There were several helpers who presented the dishes and took our plates when finished. The wine was placed in an ice bucket on the far side of the table where we were sitting. When I asked the helper for assistance and pouring another glass of wine she moved the bucket closer to me and said âit was now easier for me to serve myself and my wife.â I have never had this kind of service or response, particularly for what is promoted as a fine dining restaurant. As for the food it was average in preparation served lukewarm and accompanied by mixed grilled vegetables (when I asked the waiter what type of vegetables his reply âsummer vegetables.â )Everything served was à la cart. This is not a cheap restaurant and there were adults wearing shorts and sloppy looking Leviâs. There were young teenagers teasing each other & disrespectful of their parents. This experience was very disappointing and not only would I not return, but I would discourage others to find a real dining experience.

two evenings on the terrace of this pintxosbar, two great evenings. We had so much great food to eat, but the calamares in their ink were the best!

A restaurant next to Zumaia, Zarautz or Getaria. It's located in a rural setting, quiet and close to nature. Parking area and playground, ideal for a family plan o relaxing tourism. Basque traditional home cooking. Pintxos, traditional "hamaiketako" menu
Found this place courtesy of TA. We seemed to be the only Brits in but it was busy with locals and Spaniards on holiday.Place is on edge of square in very small village.Food style is hearty but quality is excellent and very good value.I ate starter that consisted on a dressed crab baked with a sauce in the shell and piece of hake in fabulous sauce.Thoroughly recommended.

Sophisticated decor with lovely array of pinxtos. Sitting on stools facing the bar gives a view of everything happening. Nice wine and good prices. Just would have been better if we had not received a 88 euro parking ticket. There are few places to park and we did not see any signs indicating we couldnât. At least we walked along the water to the Bay of Biscay.
