Discover Restaurants offering the best European food in San Sebastian - Donostia, Province of Guipuzcoa, Spain. While many visitors come for the beaches, arts celebrations and fiestas, San Sebastian-Donostia is serious about its food and drink. The Old Quarter’s narrow, winding streets are full of bars and restaurants, and in the modern city, sidewalk cafes are all around. The city specializes in seafood. Just make sure you know not to expect dinner at 6 or 7 p.m.—that’s much too early in Spain. Instead, tide yourself over with tapas, and enjoy eating and drinking late into the night.

What can you say about a famous cook and a poor service? The food was great, no doubt. Some main courses come in real small, appetizer like sizes (e.g. the delicious Txangurro Donostiara, the See Spider) and other delicious main courses like the Cordero Lechal come without any noteworthy vegetables, just a nano strife of something. Maybe a question of concept? Maybe, but expectations aren't met.We asked the waiter for a solution to the See Spider issue, but the answer was quite abrupt: choose another meal and pay again. Not quite friendly. We needed also to decide upfront for the dessert, because... Generally, the waiter's interest for out table was quite peripheral and definitely not satisfactory. No doubt a great chef with a great talent, but with such service personnel he doesn't need any enemies. Zelai Txiki: keep up with the great cooking talents, but you have space for improvement in service.

I was treating my boyfriend with a dinner in San Sebastián for his birthday. Iâm so lucky I chose this restaurant even though itâs not in the city centre. Totally worth the taxi drive! The food was impeccable. We had a tasting menu and waitress completed it with matching wines. Service was perfect but still relaxed (I donât like too serious service). If I ever return to San Sebastián I will definitely come back!

We made a reservation for dinner. The waitress was so helpful and translated the menu for us! She gave us recommendations and each dish was amazing. Started with roasted peppers then had risotto with cod, ravioli with oxtail and ended with tuna. Wines were very good and all was reasonably priced. Would go again!

We hosted our wedding reception dinner at Misura and enjoyed the chef's recommended tasting menu for our group. Everything was beautifully presented, and meticulously executed. The restaurant prides itself on using local and organic products native to the region, thereby ensuring only the freshest items of the season are used. The dishes are flavourful, thoughtful, and easily one of the best meals we've ever had. Make sure to try the 62-degree egg and cod and the tarte tatin. What a delight! Everyone was raving about the culinary experience they had that night- not to mention, the attentiveness of the staff, and warmth of the environment. Everything was perfect! We will definitely come back to Misura and Arima again for our vow renewals!!! :) Thank you again for everything!

Great food. Donât take the plates and eat the paint shows one by one, and the ones that are hot or amazing. Once they make them for you fresh in the kitchen. Just delicious, the wild mushroom crêpes, The tomato salad, actually, just everything that you can think of is good they are. Service is great and itâs all family-owned which is just wonderful. Must give it a try! Youâll love it!Good morning and thanks Woldin IWe like to know what you enjoyed and your opinion about our pintxos and staffWe look forward to greeting you on upcoming visits.Greetings from the Karrika Taberna team

My wife and I visited here on a Wednesday lunchtime, we could hear the throng of people from miles away. Really lovely food and great value, we had the fried chicken and tomato salad and couldnât fault it, particularly the chicken.

Arzak is a 3 Michelin star restaurant in San Sebastian. My wife and I love the Michelin star system and eat at many of these restaurants. Arzak is certainly worth its 3 star rating and should perhaps be given four stars. The highlights are:1. The service in impeccable, the family greets every table. This family could rest on their laurels, but they do not. This attention to detail ensures the quality is maintained.2. The food is excellent, in both taste and presentation. Plus they are amenable to customers requests. I have no time for chefs who tell me how meat must be served.3. We had two gluten intolerant people at our table, and they still found the food to be excellent. They were also blown away by the quality. We cannot wait to go back.

I rely on tripadvisor for recommendations.Mendaur Berria was listed as number one in San Sebastian and lived up to its ranking. We did something a San Sebastian resident would never do. We ate all our pinxos at one place. We couldn't see the point in going anywhere else. Nothing could be as good as this!Dishes can be ordered as pinxos size or racion which is bigger and probably meant for a few people. We had a racion size dish of calamari and then pinxos size of 8 other dishes followed by the lemon pie for dessert. We waddled out after paying EUR46.50!Originally we had booked a Michelin starred restaurant but cancelled it. We have been to a number of Michelin star restaurants around the world and have always walked out thinking:'OK but not worth the money'.Mendaur Berria food is beautifully presented and the server described each dish when they brought it to the table.A must visit, worth every cent!Thank you very much for your lovely words, for the visit and the review. We love that you enjoyed your experience in our house. Your opinion is very important to us, because is the way forward. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards.

With so many places to eat we took a chance to visit this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had studied the set menu including wine and water earlier in the day and turned up without making a booking. We soon realized that we were lucky to get a table as the restaurant filled up very quickly. The décor and ambience of the restaurant was spot on. The standard of food was excellent with plenty of choice and the service was friendly, efficient but unrushed even though the restaurant was full, with people being turned away. All in all, we enjoyed a lovely evening at this restaurant and it was clear to see that the waiting staff really enjoyed their jobs and worked hard to make the overall experience enjoyable and relaxing.
