We had an overall excellent opinion of this restaurant. Although they are closed during the week in Winter, we caught them open on a Sunday Afternoon and had enjoyed a great bottle of wine for only 16 Euros and outstanding Tapas.

I feel a little brave challenging the many positive reviews but can only report on what we found on a mid-week holiday evening. That was a lovely restaurant with enthusiastic and friendly serving staff, but let down by disappointing food for the price. The monkfish carpaccio has no place on the menu at any price - watery and tasteless. Quite amazed to be served it frankly. The main courses were elegantly presented but with small portions and generally a triumph of style over flavour. The desserts were excellent and the wine list offers a fine variety of styles and prices. Sadly overall it was an expensive disappointment of an evening.

Traditional food, local produce and innovative techniques. This is what defines the Sugarri Restaurant at the Rio Bidasoa Hotel. A welcoming and tranquil place where we achieve the perfect combination of exceptional and innovative food. Sugarri has become
Located downstairs at The Hotel Bidasoa, we had pleasure of dining here for lunch. The attentive wait staff were extremely helpful in finding the English translation of the menu of the day (24 Euros). Started with cheese starter with pardons. Next came Crispy artichokes, octopus and shrimp with creamy mashed potatoes Galician. Main dish was Bacalao (cod) asado con txangurro y su pil pil. Finished with Catalan Cream with ice cream. Meal was delicious! Good value for those who don't want to fight the pintxoes crowd. Thanks for your kind comment, We will keep doing our best .Kind regards

Vegetarian bar/restaurant, we offer vegetarian international dishes, a BIO wine list and beers in a carefully decorated place, we have a big terrace for the sunner.
We arrived at the Port to see live entertainment which is there every Saturday night until October. The restaurant was very busy, lucky we booked a table and the waiter who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. The pasta dish with fungi was delicious and so were the croquettes. Lovely to eat a meal without the worry of sneaky bits of meat in the food.

Wonderful service and food in this converted traditional Basque house in a neighborhood in Hondarribia. We had the monkfish and the red prawns, both cooked simply and to perfection. We also shared a foie appetizer and a lovely bottle of red Rioja. Wonderful setting and most other guests were Spanish. English is spoken as well as English menus.

Being Gourmet is knowing how to live, you learn to enjoy the little things, a glass of wine, a look, a smile, of a piece of cheese, good company of old friends and friends to come ... In the heart of old Hondarribia and surrounded by history, we invite yo
Thanks to TripAdvisor we researched the town before going picked this restaurant and booked.Ok so bad points, it's small I would say 30 covers and it's bar stools at the table. This is totally outweighed by the good points. The staff were great, not fluent English, but enough to explain the dishes and recommend wines etc.The food is very well presented and the flavours are fantastic. Portion size depends on the dish, some are huge some are quite small and you can't tell from the price so ask the great staff. The chef /owner has a great talent and passion for the food and came out to speak to each table during the night to see what we thought.Lastly the price, we were a large group and had lots of wine and great food in what can only be described as a modern restaurant with classical roots, I would say as good as some of the best I have eaten in all for less than â¬35 each.

Grab a seat outside or a stand up table inside. Have someone hold your place, then secure a plate from the bar staff and jostle with the crowd as you select pintxos from items on the bar, or take additional selections from the menu, the octopus looked delicious. After ordering beer or wine, pay the ticket and enjoy. If you speak basque or Spanish, ask questions, otherwise be adventuresome. Everything we tried was excellent and the beer on a hot July evening was ice cold.

Staying for one night in Hondarribia, so dutifully looked on Trip Adviser for a suitable restaurant. Monday, or Tuesday evenings are not good for choice in Hondarribia. The first three restaurants on the list were closed, so we made a bit of a trek to the Jaizkibel which is hidden away in an affluent residential area. Getting back to the walled town in the dark was harder, but we managed because we found one person to ask for directions, (in Spanish.). The meal was well worth the adventure. It was excellent. We had the 3 course set menu for just less than 30â¬. Very good value as we could choose any dish on the a la carte menu. The amuse a bouche was lovely, a nice touch. The wine we chose, a Rioja was also very good value. The surroundings and service were of a very high standard. A perfect end to our Spanish holiday. Would definitely recommend it.

We arrived without reservation and were shown to a lovely table right away. The waitress was lovely and spoke some English. All the starters were fantastic, I had the lobster which was superb. Everyone throughly enjoyed the table service with flair and panache, the owner poured the fishsoup for my son himself with great florish. The atmosphere was terrific, chic comfort. A very tasty cauliflower amuse bouche and a refreshing apple siroop as palate cleanser. The ice-cream was home made and delicious. We were utterly satisfied and delighted with everything. For me, visiting this gorgeous land, it was a fitting end to a great time in the Basque country.

Bakar, una comida tradicional, delicias locales y alguna especialidad del chef, ideal para picar y comer en buen ambiente y con una estupenda terraza. Todos los viernes se hacen comidas temáticas, se prepara alguna especialidad de algún paÃs del mundo.
A culinary experience would not be complete without the perfect ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant, and this is what Bakar Restaurante was offering me throughout my journey into Irun, Spain for the New Yearâs Eve of 2019. The restaurant is beautifully designed, it gives a homey feeling and the space just before the dining place allows visitors to dance and enjoy the dinner time with their lovely ones and families; and this is exactly what I did after the service for New Yearâs Eve dinner was finished. People were dancing and enjoying their time and the staffs of the restaurant were also joining us in the dance floor, William, the lovely head chef was dancing together with the others as we are singing and enjoying the traditional Spanish celebration way of eating grapes. The bartender, together with the head chef was also playing some groovy music to get the people to dance and mingle, ah.. did I say that William is a down-to-earth person who is lovely and is caring about the opinions of everyone about their experience starting from the point when they stepped into the restaurant until the end of the night? (morning, actually, we finished at around 5 in the morning). All in all, it was a very exhilarating experience from the start until the end; the savory and beautifully served food, the perfect ambiance and the lovely staffs. Would definitely come back again if I have the chance to travel back to the Basque country!
